The rain sensor is passenger compartment fuse 31 in my MY12.

G'day Graeme, the manual says #41 for the early model L322's....I have checked that a few times mate, I'm not sure how it works. If fuse is good to go it should work.

How's the weather up your way mate, we have been getting rain and hail every second day...good 'ol Tassie winter. Thumbs Up

Hi googs

I had a fault with mine a couple of months ago the fault was the auto wipers and auto headlight fault, If you put your headlights onto auto do they stay on all the time even in bright light if so it it the header joint corroded the wire joint on mine was about 150mm from the front of where the front seat bolt fits on the main loom and was easily found as you could see the oxidisation around the tape and a slight pull on the wire it fell apart

First thing is check auto headlight operation

Sorry, I had in mind that yours was MY10 so didn't check.

It's been wet since summer so even the hills are springing, but much better than dust at this time of year.

Hi Dave,
Did you see the wiring loom I posted ? I couldn’t see any corroded wires .
What were the color wires your talking about?

I looked in the area of the B pillar to the start of the A pillar and didn’t find anything that looks like a corroded joint.

You are in the correct area the joint will not be obvious as just looks like a few wires wrapped in black tape i cant remember the wire colour is your car RHD? , Have you checked auto headlight function yet

there is definitely no black tape joints in the section that i posted in the1st photo, but that's ok those wires might be in a different section. Yes RHD
Now that you mention about about headlights no i haven't tried them as yet, as I've had the RR pulled to pieces but as soon as i fit her ack together i will try them....or i suppose i could just turn them on in the drive way and wait for dark , thanks i will try tonight

If you have the headlight fault which is linked to the rain sensor then the headlights will be on all the time if set to auto

Have tried the headlights and they are on all the time so I'm guessing I have the fault and linked to rain sensor.
My next step is the screen connections ? anyone got any suggestions?

CURRENT normal state - intermittent wipers are manual only. The wipers run one cycle when stalk moved to position one. Also cycle once when changing the intermittent interval/sensitivity. Auto-lights do not seem to work in this condition.
ACTION - pull fuse 41
SYMPTOM
wipers do not work at all. Includes position 2 and 3 ( full speed ) Neutral
lights switched to auto - all illuminated ( this was in daylight conditions).

Suspect I need to get into the loom and sort the wires. Might wait until windscreen people come on Monday. 2004 L322 BMW 4.4v8 petrol/lpg

I know this has been a while but which tool did you use to recalibrate. My reader tells me faulty rain sensor and I am thinking of getting another sensor from Ebay but maybe not based on your finding

Similarly I also have a new sensor which I bought and never used as I checked the wiring loom and found the problem. Don’t throw money away on a new sensor without checking the wiring fix first. 2017 Jaguar F Pace 25t Portfolio - still part of the JLR family 😀

My rain sensing wipers were not working and I was getting a fault with the gap tool: “0x2 adaptation to windscreen not possible”.

I replaced the sensor with a used one and it still was a little flakey. I noticed that the connector to the rain sensor was not making good contact because it would trigger the wipers when I touched the connector to put it back together… so I sprayed a little wd-40 on the cable’s connector. Dielectric grease is probably better.

I then drove it and the wipers were working correctly. I then got too smart and decided to try my original sensor to see if it was just a loose connector. The old sensor did not seem to work. I put the new one back in with a little extra WD-40 and used the gap tool to initialize it: Service/Test -> BCM-Body Control ->

After that I could not get the new one to work again. I’m afraid I got carried away with the WD-40 on the sensor or re-initialized with a wet and dark windshield.

I am going to try to re-initialize in better weather tomorrow. Does anyone know the proper initialization procedure? RAVE and GAP manual don’t seem to mention anything.

I did notice that I do not have factor original windscreen glass, but it was definitely working with sensitivity and rain feedback. The glass is marked as shown in the picture.
