Restricted performance inlet manifold split.

Well it’s happened put my foot down heard a bang and I’ve joined the restricted performance club.

This is on my l322 4.4 v8 just to avoid confusion.

After some research on here I knew where to look and this is what I found.

This is the passenger side

Drivers side looks perfect.

Anyone taken this job on themselves? I have plenty of time and spanner’s just need a little guidance on weather it’s an at home job or book it in the garage job! Current: 16 my2016 Range Rover l405 4.4 sdv8 Aruba gold & 11 MY2011 RANGE ROVER L322 4.4 TDV8 ZERMATT SILVER

I had it done as it needs the injector loom replacing etc. cost was £1600 all in. You can see the bill and part numbers used etc here.

I did it on my 3.6 tdv8 and even though it’s a different engine- it was an absolute pig to do, the injectors nearest the bull head won’t clear the chassis so you have to raise the engine to get them out- and good luck with the drivers side one!! 2007 TDV8 Vogue SE

Its much easier on a 4.4 TDV8... Takes me 30-45 mins but I have done a load of them... Easy home mechanic job sir... The blue silicone hoses show they have been changed before... Thumbs Up

RRV78, this looks like the 4.4 TDV8 and not the 4.4 BMW Petrol V8?

In which case the air intake manifold is quite straightforward to change and easily done by eye without instructions.

Give yourself a couple of hours for first try. It doesn't require any additional parts. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

Think you are talking about an inlet manifold replacement on a 3.6 here sir… The OP has a later 4.4 TDV8 and is after just the inlet pipes sir…

Hi Craig

Yes the silicone hose was done before my ownership I just slid the one in photo back to look at the manifold which has split! Where it attaches Current: 16 my2016 Range Rover l405 4.4 sdv8 Aruba gold & 11 MY2011 RANGE ROVER L322 4.4 TDV8 ZERMATT SILVER

That’s ok. So you wouldn’t recommend taking on a manifold swap myself then? Current: 16 my2016 Range Rover l405 4.4 sdv8 Aruba gold & 11 MY2011 RANGE ROVER L322 4.4 TDV8 ZERMATT SILVER

No my friend… Not unless you’re really brave! The injectors can be a complete Censored to remove & refit!
If you do feel confident? By all means crack on but, don’t go into it blind! Get some research done beforehand sir… Thumbs Up

Thanks for the reply Craig as it is the inlet manifold that seems to of split at the seems I’ll be looking for a good independent in my area to undertake the job I think!

Apologies, I was looking and thinking it's the donut then remembered the ports are on the inlet manifold, not the intake manifold as you say.

I think the job is more straightforward than the 3.6 which i had inlet manifold gasket replacements done on, however a pig of a job, so best put into a garage. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8
