Water ingress - sunroof drain corroded

Hi all,
This morning I noticed that my spare wheel well was damp, and further investigation showed the passenger rear footwell carpet was also wet.
Having investigated the sunroof I think I have identified the culprit!
The sunroof drain appears to have totally corroded away...see pic below.

I guess my question is - how the hell do I fix this?!?

Edited to say I have a warranty from the dealer I bought it only 6 weeks ago - do we think this should be covered?

Thanks

Shocked

Sorry to hear that, read this thread:

https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic61477...roof+drain

It could be terminal, unfortunately, it’s not exactly a DIY fix.

One reason I avoided the higher-spec L405’s when I purchased last year.

Depends on cost of repair vs value of vehicle vs depth of pockets, unfortunately. Sad “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Read the thread Gremlin attached.
Go to the Dealer and tell him it needs repairing or the warranty bill will escalate Whistle 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

Wow - that's an interesting & scary one.

I'd be scared to even try to inspect mine in case it accelerated a fracture...... If it's not covered by the warranty, then I guess the cheap fix is a tube of silicone & disconnect the sun roof switch ?

Thanks both,
I'll give the dealer a call today.
In the meantime I've tried to bung the drain internally and cover the sunroof with a few towels to try and stop more water coming into the vehicle - not ideal but not sure what else to do - and it's raining pretty constantly here.
Considered trying to concoct something with a piece of pipe but to be honest the pipe itself with the rusted grommet still attached seems to be blocked (assuming with rust etc).

Another thread here - https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic57001.html

Not sure it's any more help - but does suggest streamer or bike brake cable for rodding the pipe.

I took a quick look at the video in the above thread - it seems to cover your issue -

Thanks Alistair, I watched this and it looks pretty much like my issue.

I'm hoping I can find a specialist to do this and it will be covered by my warranty....but I'm not holding my breath.

I missed the 6 weeks thing, yup they sold you a lemon!

Straight back to them. Censored “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Well I wouldn't say a Lemon, I think we are all facing that particular slippery slope. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

Well OK sorry, but perhaps not so soon after purchase!

I would be well miffed, but its a potentially well hidden fault, and a huge pitfall of the “open top” SE and AB L405 FFRR’s as they age, and eminently not as economically repairable as the well-advised TDV6 snapped crankshafts issue. Looks like the perfect FFRR could be a 4.4TDV8 in Vogue spec with huge options list……… Thumbs Up

Or? “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?
