L405 Deployable side steps

I have 2016 Model with LR Deployable side steps Occasionally drivers side step fails to retract or will literally just lower on its own we all all know that thud sound
My main problem is a battery drain which puts on the warning on the dash its a small drain car starts brilliantly every time
Car has been to LR dealer number of time for full diagnosis and a new genuine battery and BMS module
But the car disables the tailgate and stop /start function a recharge puts everything right
i tried turning off the side steps and no battery drain issues
so my question is can you replace 1 step or do you do both to cure problem
Thanks

United Kingdom 2016 Range Rover Autobiography SDV6 Santorini Black

I would try and replace one first.

I’m having similar issues, but with the passenger side, however it’s only stuck initially - if I help it out at first the motor still places it in the correct position…

Have you tried lubricating the moving parts? Sometimes the silt and dirt builds up and clogs it up
