Here's a strange one:
My 2007 tdv8 vogue triggers the burglar alarm whenever it's parked out in the sun on a warm day. It never happens in the rain or if there's a fairly dense cloud cover, but if the sun peeks through for more than a few minutes, off it goes.
Now, I covered what I believe to be the motion sensors up with tape (front and rear of the dome light cluster), but that didn't make a difference.

Any ideas? Is there a way to know which exact sensor was triggered?

It's been going on all summer and it's a nuisance.

its probably the bonnet getting hot and setting the sensor alarm off..disconnect it and see if that helps.. ... - .- -.

I did consider this, as I have read that the bonnet switch is a common failure, but mine is a 2007, so post facelift model, and it doesn't have that switch poking up from the battery box. Neither have I ever had a "bonnet open" warning whilst out driving.
Do you know where that switch moved to, if I wanted to try your suggestion? It seems to me it would have to be on the latch somehow, hidden from view and access.

On my 2011 Supercharged I had exactly the same a year or two ago, the alarm going off (thinking the bonnet was open) on super sunny days. On mine the bonnet switch/plunger is on the opposite side to the battery. I ran with it disconnected for several months until I next placed an order for parts (as the switch itself cost less than the postage I think!), but did then fit a new switch and it's been absolutely perfect again for the last year or so.

I've been nosing about under the bonnet looking for that switch, without success. However, if your 2011 has the simple plunger, I'm stumped to figure why they would do it differently on the diesel. Seems as if some more nosing around is called for. It's not as if there isn't room for it under there....
Mine is a lhd 2007 tdv8. If anyone knows the exact location of the bonnet switch, please enlighten me

If it’s still the plunger, bend the bracket up so it’s nearer the bonnet or put a grommet or similar on the end to make it a bit longer, though obviously if you unplug it, it will prove that it’s the issue.

Might not be faulty, just a bit too low when the bonnet heats up in the sun…

Thanks. I read that tip before, which is why I went looking for the switch in the first place. It's all a very plausible explanation, with one major flaw: I never got a random "bonnet open" warning when the car was running - not once. It still remains the most likely culprit, but I'll just have to see. Typically, It's now cloudy with occasional drizzle and no warm and sunny days ahead. I may have to wait until May '24 before I can close the book on this one...
