Insurance - not all bad news for some post codes

Still arguing with myself on the purchase of a RR V8. Thought I would test the waters on insurance. Did an online quote for a 2016 Vogue SE and got a fully comp quote for just over £600. Protected no claims 12 years, may be more in truth. 58 year old driver in Highland with no convictions. Just me covered and involved Hastings Insurance. Their generic valuation was £26K.

I did a similar thing and got £800 odd on a 2017 AB. I’m 53 in Derbyshire…. Full no claims. Paid £355 for the L322 I’ve got.

That doesn’t sound too bad, compared to my quote, but they are all too high now….

Hi,

I think it's starting to already come down slowly, just ran another quote through Confused.com.

Came back, me and the wife, car kept on the drive as a 2nd Car, full NCB, windscreen & breakdown cover, 10k per year:

£443 from eSure, but they're a bit dodgy, £704 from Hastings Direct, £726 that's just over a hundred down on the quote I ran last month.

However, 17yr old daughter, Nissan Micra 2014 Digi-S Tekna, which is supercharged 1.2 auto, just passed test, in her own name, as her own car is £1,592. Cheapest big name is Admiral @ £2,060 inc greenflag & windscreen, which to me is a bargain compared to some stories I've heard.

Not if you live in central london it isn't media hype. Market forces don't apply as you can't choose not to have insurnace and most insurers are just brokers who are selling you policies from bigger companies. Rates are based on cost of claims in your area mainly hence why densly popoulated areas with wealth people and expensive cars make for higer premiums 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Why is esure dodgy? just did a google and

Founded in 2000, esure Group is one of the UK's leading personal lines insurers. The Group provides motor and home insurance products through the prominent esure and Sheilas' Wheels brands, and currently has more than 2 million customers.

But then looked at Trustpilot and read the reviews https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.esure.com

So You pay your money and take a chance Rolling with laughter seems majority of issues are customer service and ability to contact someone is very poor. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

eSure, OMG, what a disaster. Unlike most insurers that deal with the problem between themselves, eSure nominated a solicitor to resolve the case of knock for knock as a sort of mediator, my friend had to pay for the solicitor out of her own pocket regardless of blame, the bills just kept racking up and she was in no way to blame but ended up with a massive bill on top of her excess.

Impossible to get to talk to a human. Simple and straightforwards until you try to make a claim Not sure what reviews you've been reading but trustpilot negative when any intervention required. https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.esure.com

Been scouring the market all day. Lots of outright refuals to quote from the likes of AA, Direct Line, some >£4k quotes and looking at between £2.5-£3k from a couple of respectable companies. Just for a reality check I put a few other cars through the quotes system and the L322 is costing me about another £1K. Still cheaper than throwing in the towel and buying somthing else. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)
