New L405 4.4 dtvse to me anyhow !

I may have done something stupid! My old 2001 P38 need to be let go - water ingress into n/s foot well from leaking pollen filter - my own fault for not using her enough !
I have purchased a 2013 4.4tdv se - but now the possible stupid bit - I have not seen the car or driven it - but did have stepson check it over who is trained mechanic ( all be it some years ago) - car has full history with mix of main dealer and specialists. Millage was 114k - oil cooler done and about to change all fluids inc ZF8 for good measure - will post pictures once I get back to UK - but 100% sure will be reaching out for advise as inevitable " gremlins " surface

Oh Dear! You spoke too soon, one has just surfaced! Evil or Very Mad Twisted Evil Laughing

On a happier note, think of it as a bit of a Project, and have fun along the way! Do you plan to do most of any jobs yourself? Immense satisfaction to be had if you can DIY successfully, and thereā€™s tons of information & some super helpful folks on here, so every reason to have a go yourself.

No doubt youā€™ll be checking out all the usual suspect points first like front wheelarch earths and roof drains, then corrosion treatment and flushing or replacing all the fluids, got to be a good weeksā€™ worth there! Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Good luck, and enjoy! If youā€™re lucky, I might be the only Gremlin! Laughing Thumbs Up ā€œIf it ainā€™t broke, donā€™t fix itā€ -whereā€™s the fun in that?

Gremlins!! I have a 2013 with similar miles and the only problems I have had with it are the deployables (side steps and towbar) so you might be lucky. Actually its probably better to say you might not be unlucky. Geoff

Many thanks for your kind words and wishes Rolling Eyes

Yes if I can I will do myself but currently away for a couple more months in Mexico - weather is 30 degrees - so similar to UK I suspect Very Happy

I will do all the fluids and ZF8 box just as preventative - however will have to let our local Landy specialist do it this time as madam will be keen to drive car - once back can climb over it to make sure all together but to be fair seems from stepsons description to be fine - I will post pictures of car when back and of course reach out for any help as and when it pops up as it will for sure

@Nigelrw:

Perhaps itā€™s a good idea to work a few extra shifts in that 30-degree heat ( me, jealous? Evil or Very Mad) so you can pay for all your ā€œpreventative maintenanceā€ Laughing

In the meantime, a FFRR standing still for so long will no doubt attract the attention of one or two of my more devilish little brethren, and give us all a few things to help you with! Very Happy Thumbs Up

Will be interested to see what you think compared to the P38. I also made the same jump, and I can say that the L405 is not 100% improved in all respects. In some ways it's gone backwards. Mostly forwards though!

@Gremlin5000 - my partner has jumped in car and parked her XJ 6 up for a bit until I get back now worried that 15k miles may be too much of a limit ! So car is going to get used for sure- only benefit of being in Mexico at 31 degrees today is I am in an ice cream factory šŸ¦
On the matter of comparison will let you know when I get back but as an indication my partner was heard to pass an expletive when she put her foot down coming off a roundabout by the passenger- she has said ride is smoother and less rock and roll around corners much flatter and cabin is put together better - she is still finding her way around cabin and oh boot seems bigger - so no doubt that will be put to the test with shopping

Ireland 2012 Range Rover Westminster 4.4 V8 Zambezi Silver

I have a 2012 with 130k miles on it, a UK import to Ireland and besides the usual oil cooler and few other small bits the car has been a pleasure. I would have loved an L405 but the prices here are reckless. For example a 2015 4.4 2 seat commercial is ā‚¬52,000 whereas a 2012 is averaging ā‚¬20,000. Ive even seen recently a 2013 L322 for ā‚¬35k.

So if you got a good deal on your car and it has history I wouldnt worry. Sounds like a great car and Im looking forward to a few photos. Current yokes
