NSF driveshaft popped out today

I was driving along today, hit quite a big pothole, and within 10 seconds the car slowed to a stop and wouldnt drive in forward / reverse, and would roll forward in park.
Changing from drive or reverse to park, there would be a bad grinding noise. From neutral to park no noise.
Eventually i found the driveshaft had popped out. With a 2 foot breaker bar i managed to get it to pop back in, and drove the 5 minutes home at low speed. The shaft stayed fully in.

Do i need a new shaft? Im assuming ive lost all the diff oil?

It took me 4 hours to find and “fix” the problem, im freezing right now.

Any help / guidance would be great please.

Hi mate

If not a new drive shaft then i would look at fitting a new snap ring. Part number TKE000040.

Local indy cant see me until the 21st march. Did a drain on the front diff. Oil was black and seemed to be just the amount that sits below the bottom of the drive shafts , maybe quater of a litre.
Replaced to spec, had to drive it a few times, shafts not moved. Its not ideal.
