Evening all. I’ve discovered the source of my air leak and it’s the little hose connected to the throttle body elbow. Can anyone tell me what the dimensions are of this pathetic little piece of wisened old rubber once was on my car? It’s so brittle, when I removed it to check for markings/dimensions, it crumbled in my hand. Still, it gave me the chance to clean the rest of the system and, thanks to FM’s instructions, I’ll be going down the multiple o-ring route to seal it up for the foreseeable.

Just for clarification you refitted this without the plastic retaining clip that holds back the original green rubber seal? Current 2011 4.4TDV8 VSE 1972 MGBGT Gone 2004 Discovery Landmark 2.5D 2003 Freelander TD4 SE |

OP says "Finally re fit the black rigid plastic part, then re-connect the plug and pipe and refit the intercooler pipe, after 2000 miles mine is as clean as the day I did the repair" |

What I would like to add is to make sure all the tabs of the metal retainer ring sit in the groove in the throttle body, all the way around.

The sensor on this pipe is quite loose on my car. Oil is dripping from around the sensor. Any ideas how to fix that? I really don’t have any RP faults but it is pretty annoying that it is so leaky there. And I surely dont wanna pay for the whole pipe, which costs around 400 euros in Germany 😬 2011 Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8 |
