Infotainment problem.

Hi all,
My 2007 L322 TDV8 is a new venture into these amazing cars, and I am getting through the niggles that are now more of an annoyance. The main being the infotainment system. This appears to have what a not so clever amateur could only describe as an input fault. The symptoms are as follows:
The screen wakes up as normal with the Land Rover sign and the on/off button flashing. This may stay like this for some time, or go to the nav system agree screen. This can take up to 15 mins. Once this happens, it co-insides with the radio making tunes, and the light stays on constantly. Once this has happened, the nav system works as it should whatever else occurs. However, the on/off light only stays constant for a few seconds, but then reverts to flashing and the sound goes. This is the same for the cd as well. It continues like this with an intermittent sound output for a few seconds every now and again for the rest of the journey.
This to me would suggest an intermittent input problem.
As an aside, the rear screens dvd unit is dead, ie I cannot even get it to eject the cartridge so may not have a power supply, and the phone unit does not show Land Rover when searched for with Bluetooth. This may not have any bearing on the main issue, and is only really going to be looked into after the main screen is working correctly.
My questions are as follows
1. Has anyone had this issue before and if so how did you fix it?
2. Is there a specialist in these units that could take a look and advise what is wrong and give an indicative cost for repair?
Am based in Folkestone, co the South East would be convenient, but prepared to travel to get the right fix.
I dont have a plug in tool yet, I am not used to this sort of thing and even find much of the nomenclature confusing, please be gentle with me. I could be that someone could suggest the best plug in thing and where it plugs in to see if there any 'codes' that could assist.
Thanks for reading. Charles Harrison

So it appears that I am the only one to ever have this problem. I am wondering if it is perhaps an amplifier problem. Need to find someone that knows this system. Charles Harrison

Hi,

I've not seen this personally but given the symptoms I'd say you have more than one problem. The main issue I'd say is your head unit is toast. It sounds like it's generally faulty but that it's getting worse as it warms up, could be moisture in there somehow.

Unfortunately it's a real pain to swap one out, especially of it turns out not to be that.

The intermittant sounds etc could just be a fibre in the MOST network loose or broken, unfortunately they run everywhere through the floor of the car, best just pick an end and workthoguh the entire loop.

The DVD not ejecting that could be that it's mechanically stuck, or that there's a power issue with that. It won't let you eject the cartridge if there is a disk in the drive itself. i.e. when you hit eject it first returns the active disc to the cartridge and then it'sll spit it out. I had one where the disc itself had warped in the drive rendering it unuseable, the only way to fix that that I know of is to pull it apart.

As per specialist in your arear, no idea, I'm in Gloucester so can't really hep you there.

Sorry not the definitive answer you're looking for. Fuji White 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westmiinster

Thank you Stan and Andyroo, I have searched on here, but not yet found a definitive answer. The diagram of the system is a help. Not being an electronics person, I will re-check and of the connections, but will still look for an infotainment specialist who may save me a lot of time. Could be anywhere in the country if necessary.
The car was used very little in the last year before I bought it, and the system bursts into life more and more as everything is used and perhaps drys out! Charles Harrison

Range Rover audio specialist ? Few and far between I'd imagine.

Some of the guys on here know the cars inside out and probably familiar with the audio system enough to be able to help you debug it and locate the source of the problem.

Depends on where you live.

Give a shout out and I'm sure someone will step up, I'm no expert myself, I just find stuff out by trial & error mostly.

My stages of investigation often based on return trips to the toolbox to find something heavier.

Quick google will give you a number of options to consider, water ingress to replacement of the head unit or bluetooth module itself.
Seems to be a not uncommon fault Sad 2011 L322 Autobography - a lot of bells and some of the whistles...owner with no idea!
