Suggestions for cleaning a-pillars and window rubbers

Hi all, after some suggestions please. Recently I somehow ended up with speckles of white paint down the entire passanger side of my car (haven't a clue where it came from though). I have used a clay bar and lubricating oil to successfully remove all the paint off the main bodywork, bonnet and roof and have cleaned the glass OK, but the A-pillar , c-pillar and window rubbers are more of a trick. I initally clay barred the a-pillar a bit but not too successfuly. Also need to clean the side step, wing mirror casing and mud flaps. Anyone got any recommendations from previous experiences before I start to try out different cleaning methods as would be easier to know what works in the first place?
By the way, wish I'd used the clay bar years ago as the 'rough' feeling lower door panels are now smooth as can be. (I have obviously then put a resin polish on the car after the clay work tp protect the body work again). Mind you, it did take me the best part of 8hrs to remove the paint off the body panels but it was worth it in the end.
Thanks Steve

I've done this with white spirit when my sons car got speckled with whatever paint they use on house walls. It won't do any harm unlike thinners which might. Geoff

Autosmart Tardis may help as it's a Xylene solvent which can be safely used on paint, also +1 for white spirit as a starting point as it's cheap as anything and reasonable inert.

MMMmmmm, a-pillar covers are black plastic. I wouldn't try any solvent in a visible spot the first time round...

+1 for testing Acetone somewhere it doesn't show - cellulose thinners is similar stuff and it thins paint ! Geoff

Hi Guys, thank you all for your advice. Obviously, I'm only removing paint off the plastic and rubber parts of the car , so I'm assuming the plastic is impregnated with a black colourant and the same for the rubber so I'm a bit wary what I use (goes back to years ago as a kid where I couldn't get a sticky label off a cassette tape case so used a dab of petrol which basically immediately gave the plastic case a frosted look finish, but what did I know then!). As Steve says, I'll try a less conspicuous place first and then do the part thats easiest to replace if it goes wrong!!!!
Cheers Steve
