FFRR Courier service

Im wondering if its worth tying in with another forum, the FCF and maybe the other LR forums hosted kindly by Martin to have a UK/international type parts shipping help service.

Im sure some of you travel round the country and have empty boots and so fourth that could be used for moving alloys around( they seem popular at the minute) or other parts to help cut CO2 and shipping costs.

I've used this on the FCF to great affect and then even have a pin map of locations and often travelled routes that people take to help out, even cars have been moved but mainly engines, wheels and bigger/bulkier parts and thought maybe its something we could do with on here and the other forums as i think even the Fl2 could take a set of FFRR alloys with tyres on and for some petrol money people are usually happy to help out and i don't mind getting the ball rolling Smile

members who do regular runs are probably under time constraints and might not be able to go of their route due to that..for instance getting from one side of swindon to the other during rush hour takes a good 40/50 minutes, some cant afford that extra time in their day...
saying that members who are visiting a relative or going to a event/show might be able to meet up with someone so that might work.
we must also consider the forum sponsors who donate to the forum and try and get a bit of business from us ..

For what Dave at MD Couriers charges, with no hassle collection and next day delivery in most cases I honestly can't see the need for a formal "forum courier" service.
Nothing to stop individual members asking and making private arrangements of course.

I think it's a very good idea. I have had tow bars and wheels delivered for FREE by folks over on landyzone. I often travel around the UK with a fairly empty car and would happily carry something for someone else.

Thanks ndfi for the kind words.

We seem to have a lot of success with this on the D3 forum's courier network.

sometimes 5 or 6 people involved in the movement of the more awkward items.

I have posted my trips on here a few times but not had any takers.

I think it should work.

(There I go again doing myself out of work!!)
