the second link , i agree the thing looks flimsy but the american ones that go into the ranges tow hitch look pretty substantial..

Of course you could take the risk ! I have the same quandry with my Sankey BDR Camping trailer but I look at it as if I were in an incident it would be just my luck that the insurance would not pay out due to unapproved modifications |

The French speed limit whilst towing is the biggest disappointment, I had planned to hoon it down to the South of France next summer with a trailer carrying all our camping gear, but 800 miles at 60mph does not sound like fun. Justin, we took the Tintent over 400 miles into France a few weeks back. The bit about 90KM/h is not too keenly enforced
