UH OH, Transmission problem? Anyone got ideas?

It had to happen eventually I suppose, my car has been pretty much trouble free and good to me. However, I was driving to a shoot today and went to accelerate as normal, the revs got to 3,000rpm and then started stuttering and wouldn't go any further and the car wouldn't accelerate normally.

I tested it some more and revs just won't get past 3,000rpm and mostly the acceleration overall is really slow. It feels like clutch slip but as its an Auto I'm thinking maybe a Torque Converter problem? I don't think it's a software issue as I have tried stopping and shut down, then go again, still the same. The Turbo doesn't seem to kick in either.

Guess it will need booking into the dealer tomorrow. This looks like it could be one of those expenses that I notionally 'saved up' for by not buying the extended warranty.

One of my fellow guns told me that if the car is under 6 years old I may have some recourse if it is major work via the Sale Of Goods Act. Must look into this.

Overall, a bit Censored off, when a car starts going wrong it can be a slippery slope, much as I want a TDV8 I'm happy to keep this one. Big Cry

Anyone had a similar problem and know what's likely to be the issue? Discovery 4 HSE

I have a friend with a 2004 Td6 that refused to go over 3000rpm and he replaced the auxiliary fuel pump (the one under the car, not in the fuel tank) which cured it. The symptoms were the same, stuttering, lack in acceleration...

The car went into the Dealer this afternoon.

I got a phone call a few hours later (I feared the worst)

It would seem Adara knows some stuff.

The problem is the Low Pressure fuel pump, so they're replacing that and a new fuel filter, just over £400 squids and ready by lunchtime tomorrow.

I'm just pleased it wasn't anything worse. I can live with that seeing as I've not had to fork out much on this car over the years.

Happier now! Discovery 4 HSE

Well usually when somebody has a car as reliable as yours has been then something goes wrong with it and as you say you are happy that you have not had to spend too much on it .

Sometimes those sort of sayings come back to bite you on the arse ............

Basically it was meant as a joke and figure of speech wasn't expecting you to get keyed up about it ... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

By the way, the dealer charged me £400 for this all in and I may be imagining things but the old girl seems a bit perkier.

They also said that if I want a free wash when I next have 15 mins to pop in for a coffee. Not bad! Discovery 4 HSE
