Cheap NTSC camera from eBay, changed connectors on car to match camera, stuck in place with double sided tape, bent mount to get decent coverage behind - 12 quid all in and much better than original camera which got damaged when rear spoiler detached on motorway. Whistle Geoff

I love how you say that "when it detached on the motorway" Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

I wonder if you can get a much better camera than original, still great that you got a cheap one and it works well Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

No doubt that its better - lots better than what I had previously, but I don't know how it compares to the 2010 onwards camera set up which peeps seem to be going for. Geoff

resoldering camera sensor did the trick

As my reverse camera stopped working, I tried JustinP’s solution, which is to reflow just the solder joints around the camera sensor. This cured the problem and now the camera has been working for 2 days.
However, as I checked the connections using a regular home surveillance camera and got much better results than with the standard one, I ordered this camera:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321378896726?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT
I believe it will be better and I will post the result when it arrives.

It should… I’m just worried about the NTSC/PAL compatibility, but at this price it’s not really a problem… One thing to have in mind, during my tests I accidentally plugged the 12v camera connector in the 3rd stop lamp’s one (they are both black and similar in shape) which led to fuse no. 12 from the back blowing (5A) and to one more hour of testing before finding the fault…

Well...

Seems that my camera is also packing up. Sometimes I get the black screen and sometimes I get the picture black and white, and other times it flickers.
I tried to access the camera connections, took it apart, well... couldn't take away the single screw holding it in place so I kinda forced it out.

While I was fiddling with the camera, the picture came on ok. So I mounted everything back again But the next day it was out again.

Now, i'm not going to go to the option of the 500 camera Shocked

So, anyone tried those ebay cameras?

While taking it apart I noticed that the plug has 4 wires going into the circuit board, but I have no guide-lines. Just a simple image.

Any help, fully appreciated...
