If you were LPG you could fit some fake cats and there is no emissions test Wink One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

Don't even need a fake cat if you just point to the back box they cant complain as the smog test is all that matters on the LPG test but you need to have it showing on your V5 which also gets a road tax reduction as well and possibly something in the congestion zone. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
Mantec Sump Guard, Rigid Load liner, MY10 BT upgrade.

I think your wrong there as after a certain year all cars have to have a cat fitted even if they can go thru an emissions test without one and all LPG cars fire up on petrol (even though the cat wont be hot enough to work) might be wrong though Big Cry My MOT station when i asked (my cats are gutted) wanted to know if it 'appeared' to have cats fitted, I also know of one guy who had a prohibition put on his car by VOSA because it was catless and needed one due to year of manufacture. One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!

It used to be the case that a car simply had to pass an emissions test as part of the mot. Manufacturers fitted cats to allow their products to pass the emissions test.
If cars could pass the emissions test without a cat so be it.
Things changed at the begining of this year, 2012, in that the new Mot Inspection Manual requires all spark ignition engined cars fitted with a cat at manufacture now have to be fitted with a cat at test, no cat fitted the car fails.
This is even if the car passes the emissions test without a cat.
Diesels don't require cats to be fitted, at present, they just have to pass a smoke test as before.

Sad really as its easy enough to get even big petrol V8s through emissions tests without cats if they are not overly worn and properly tuned (Ive seen it done with dinosaur carburettor technology, FI engines are easier) Lloyd Barnes
