Absolutely agree!!

Today I was at my dealer, a guy comes in and is pi Censored ed about bringing his 3 month old SDV8 in for the 3 time, engine failure, alarm problems and now the active anti roll bar. The car has been there for 3 weeks since the new parts have not come in!!

I was told that the first ones from last year were fine, the problems starting with the MY13.5...

Unacceptable

It's little wonder the uk are a joke around the world. We have a prestige sought after brand and we can't even build them properly.

Utterly appalling. I'm sorry to hear of everyone's problems with their new cars. I'd be driving mine through the dealers window!

New models always have to get the bugs out. I'd not be expecting perfection, but I would be expecting prompt, courteous service and problems solved the first time. Remember, 'ordinary' cars don't have 4/5ths the tech of a FFRR.

Apart from air suspension and anti roll bars I am not sure what "tech" a FFRR has got that any BMW that costs a third of the price hasn't. I consider JLR to be generally rather behind in that regard.

How bizarre. They sorted the anti roll bar knock out, but mine too is going in to the dealers on thu for a vibration/resonance at around 1400 under load. We'll see what happens. It's prob the first they've ever seen, again.

I went 'mental' having had around 24 serious faults with my TDV6 L405 and I have now got a replacement (upgrade) at a very generous discount.

The dealer supported me in the issue and once aired with the right people, was a very seamless process, dealt with directly from the executive liaison office at Land Rover. I think they key would be to have support from your dealership if you have any recurring serious problems.

I got the distinct impression that these cars are very important to them as I got far better service than I ever expected.

Some of my faults;

Vibration on torque barrier
Missing parts / items (such as seat casings / soundproofing)
Rear view mirror fell off while driving
Seat adjustment failure
Propshaft issues (universal joint)
Knocking front suspension
Squeaking front brakes
Fuel sloshing noise
Sunroof rattles

Any many more.

I don't think I'd want one back after all that! Is it the people that build them are just thinking @@@k these rich people lets just bodge it!

There's a hell of a lot of jealous people out there especially in England so this could be their 'revenge' I know this goes on in one large manufacturer of planes. Just scumbags with a chip on their shoulder.

Great to hear you got a replacement vehicle from LR.

Does anyone know what happens to the 'lemon' cars that LR take back? I assume they would pass it on at trade to somewhere outside of their own dealer network and the approved used LR scheme. Anyone know for sure? Either way you would be pretty pi@sed to have bought any 'lemon' priced north of 60k. Perhaps they use it for parts and thereby try and improve their perceived reputation on the build quality front?

I can't speak to the UK situation, but many US states have lemon laws. I've come across cars for sale on the internet with a 'branded' title declaring that they were lemons that had been bought back from the original customer. Obviously, they sell at a discount, but that history follows the car.

This is a known problem and I had it on mine but it was fixed last week. Ask your dealer about the bulletin on TOPIx

My 2013 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 SDV8 is in the dealer at the moment due to the knocking front suspension issue. Replacement of both front lower arms and the ARB has been carried out. Not sure if this is common knowledge but the service manager says they have actually paused production for a brief period as they are changing the shock absorbers and he expects there could be a recall at some stage. Be interesting to see if there is any truth in that.

Knocking noise

will be late January 2014 to replace parts on 13 , 13.5 MY cars , 13MY first release cars had same issues.

as for build and problems , sorry it's not just JLR that have issues , the Germans are just as bad , and does no one on here remember Toyota ! Bentley ! Porsche engines, gearbox's !

JLR do seem to have more issues than many but is that just because it get's seen on here and other forums so it's in your face ?

How about a TV , your PC why do we keep updating dodgy drivers ! , Firmwares , Wht do Apple keep bringing out fixes and the same for google who are the extreme t*(^(** of all

gone are the days of a simple car. Far to many gone...
