Well that was painful.
I’d love to know how anyone managed to get a pipe down into the bottom of the supercharger to draw any used oil out??

I stripped out the cabin filter/heater ducting housing, removed the engine cover, removed the air intake ducting from the supercharger snout and the air box, unclipped the hose/conduit from under the supercharger snout. Messed around trying to get a 5mm Allen key to fit the fill plug, found out it’s not 5mm or 4mm it’s 3/16ths, found I hadn’t got one and filled down a 5mm until it fitted, finally got the plug out, only to find I couldn’t get the tube any further inside the casing than 10-15mm. Tried for 2 hours to get the pipe to feed down into the bottom of the SC with zero success. Gave up and put it all back together.

That’s been a fun Sunday…..not!

My questions is……how do you get the pipe into the bottom of the SC as the blades/screws what ever they are called sit a few millimetres inside the casing, I even tried running the car a few times hoping to find a gap…..nothing doing.

Heat the pipe up in really hot water. This should make it flexible enough to get past the obstruction enabling majority of oil to be extracted. (Don't worry about any traces of water on the pipe). Still have to do plenty of wiggling though. Previous cars:
S-Max 2007-2013 (only diesel I've had, good car but expensive when diesely bits go wrong, so what's the point?)

Sierra Estate 1993-1997
Uno Turbo 1987 -1993

I did try heating it up with a hot air gun to make the pipe more malleable, i cut a 45 degree end on it to make it more pointed, i even slid a thinner diameter tube inside the one supplied in the kit. All to no avail.

The one plus point was that the oil on the end of the pipe each time i pulled it out was nice and golden, so i pumped 20ml of new in there and buttoned it up.

I won't be revisiting that job again in my ownership. I have plenty of other ones i can waste my time on Laughing Laughing 1988 Classic 3.5 EFI in Green - GONE.

My question is how to remove all of the fluid from the supercharger? There's a hump in the middle and the drain/fill hole is on one side.



If I had to guess, half of the old fluid would be missed when sucking it out with a syringe.

As for the proper fluid, I called Eaton (who made the supercharger) and they were very clear to ONLY use NYE 605 fluid. NOTHING else.

I had a hard time finding it in small quantities but in the end I discovered that ACDelco 10-4041 is just NYE 605 repackaged! ACDelco even says this in the MDSS!
