supercharger oil change

reading through this thread http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic14188....oil+change

it suggests changing the oil in the supercharger with a kit supplied by these peeps http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160676739255?ssP...1438.l2649 .

so i was wondering if anyone has done this job and if so can they give us some tips or a 'how to'..

Stan: I'm intrigued by your find, so ordered a kit.

My local specialist tells me supercharger access on the RR S/C is 'terrible' compared to the Jaguar installed unit, so I hope that doesn't mean the fill plug. I'm guessing this plug is at the top of the unit, though. Si. <This is my name.

I have heard the L322 SC needs to be refilled with a syringe due to poor access - there was a thread about 8 months ago on here where somebody did it.

My mechanics couldn't find the fill plug and the workshop manual I have doesn't show it either so I need to look myself when I have the car back. It doesn't seem to be in the Jag location. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

so lets start with the job:

First imagine a SC without this silly plastic cover. If you like I can take pics how to remove the cover too.

here it is:

now you see a black plastic part with the weird shape connected to the Airfilter: Air Intake Duct Boot (PHD500075)

this you can remove very easily.

It will look like that:

This screw you need to remove to suck out the oil.

and on the technical diagram:

It needs a specific allen key. (We didnt have so we had to make one to fit) Size: (3/16)

Removing the nut there seems complicated with the throttle body intake in place.
So we decided to remove the throttle body intake (part no: LR005192)

Here you can see which Parts you need to remove. It is Part 1 and 4.

First you have to undo in the back and lift the throttle body intake and pull it towards you.

Then it is pretty easy to undo the nut and take out the old oil and refill with new one. Probably the nut is stuck and you need to spray it with some WD40. I would advise you to put a rag down there so if the nut or the allen key falls you can grab it easily.

I used the syringe which was included in the Kit I bought from EBAY. I got 170ml out of the Supercharger. The Oil capacity is 215ml. To get out as much as possible lift the car in the back a bit so the oil is flowing to the front of the Supercharger.

Then refill the Supercharger with the same quantitiy of oil until it overflows (second reason to put a rug or a piece of cotton there) Just tight the nut again and you are done.

Please be aware! You need special Oil. I read some topics somewhere else about people using normal engine oil?!! Censored

Hope you understand my approach even if English is not my first language and I am not very familiar with technical terms.

Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Mr. Green

Thanks Hugi, that is superb Thumbs Up

Looks within my limit of ability as well. How much oil did it take?

Would appreciate more details of the specific Allen key... 4.2 Supercharged Vogue SE

Perfect how to guide I must get round to doing mine. The difference between theory and reality is that in theory it will work.
