I spliced the wires, intertwined them, then soldered them and then used the rubber shrink wrap rubber with a hair dryer and then wrapped electrical tape. My dealer said that is exactly what they would have done. Did the same to the other side just to be on the safe side.

That really strange cos there is improved harness to replace the old fragile type
so would not expect a dealer to simply fix it

and...

LR do NOT recognize soldering as APPROVED method of repair Wink

(i am not saying it will not work though)

My RR dealer is about a 3 hour drive from where live and are fairly new. The service manager never mentioned a replacement wiring harness but I will be sure to ask him about it. I would much rather have the dealer correct this but it was an easy fix and saved me the 7 hr round trip and a rock chip in the windscreen which has happened everytime I make the trip.

do not worry connecting wires will do the job Thumbs Up

what i am saying is if you do it yourself save time and money
and connect wires but if you follow dealer path
get improved harness fitted (no risk of fault reappearing)

Thanks to all contributors - had the same fault on my 2011 car as well. Easy fix.

Interestingly, this has happened just after I started using the access height feature more often in the last few weeks - I wonder if the increased "up and down" on the suspension has had anything to do with it? 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

Its connecting two wires together so hope you can manage Wink

look for the broken wire in the area of metal covers on the top of front suspension struts (under the bonnet)
(you can undo the 2 torx and remove covers for access)

When fixed the fault will clear Thumbs Up

I had the same fault. Looked under the bonnet... cable was broken!
Scotch Lok'd it together, problem solved. many thanks Bow down Thumbs Up
