Take your time you CAN buy a very good Range Rover for under £10k and there is no reason it should cost you more than any other older premium car to run. Well serviced higher mileage is fine.

My suggestion would be the 4.4 2004/5 (2005 Hybrid MY) with Touchscreen. These cars seem to run very well and I have experience as they are what i convert into 2012 lookalikes. Had several and all good cost free cars.

Avoid 2002 altogether and any non touchscreen if you can although you may find a nice one. Thumbs Up

The early 5 speeds, but there are plenty of us who have not had an issue.

I bought mine in nov 2011, and got a 12 month warranty from the dealer, though it was obviously through a warranty company. At the end of the first 12 months they gave me the option to renew. Then in nov, I renewed again and got 2 years further premium plus cover for £430.

So whilst it might not be trouble free, it's not as expensive as it could be to maintain either. Mines a 2003 with 125000 miles on, and I'm loving it.

The dealer was not a main dealer.

So, I suppose what I'm suggesting is getting a 12 month warranty with the car. Others will say it's not worth the paper it's written on, but I've had a radiator, fuel pump, rear wiper motor, viscous fan, rear passenger door lock, and some other bits I can't recall...... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Thanks for the advice chaps, managed to get out and take a few photos of the CRV today so should be able to get it advertised on AT or similar this week. Thumbs Up

Gary, I do have a preference for the jag engined 05 onwards (really want a SC Mr. Green ) but didn't think they would be within my current budget, hence looking at earlier V8 cars.

I guess as time goes on i should be able to increase the budget. Roger

Its the BMW V8 I am talking about! In the 2004/5 Hybrid car. It had the Flat front but with new style Touchscreen NAV etc but BMW V8 Engine and no reversing camera. Its this particular car I think is good value and seem to me to be reliable being the last of the BMW cars.

Yes that the car although the one in link has been modified a bit more than I would be happy with. Look for a stock standard factory as you can find. Bits can be removed however.

Just looked again and with that low mileage it may be a good car. Was a bit put off by light guards and non factory RSE but could be worth a look.

I'm with Gazellio on this one. I had a 4.4 on a 54 plate that had the touchscreen and I had it for a couple of years and I can't fault it. The engine is bullet proof - It did have some cam chain issues - but with that mileage I doubt if there's any trouble looming.

That black one above is not my cup of tea either but those extras can be removed and with that low mileage it could be a good trouble free buy.

Just a add on to the OP's last advert - £12 k WILL get you a Jag engined car - although there are less to choose from. Indeed, there appear to be more SC cars available than those with the 4.4 NA engine. I had to look hard & travel to get mine. If it's an option to you, I'd hang on for a Jag car - good luck with the search !

Thumbs Up Where do you go after one of these . . . ?

Also after a first L322

Hi, I sold my p38 4.6 hse a few years back, to start my own business and fund a van. Im now in the situation to buy another range rover.

This time i want a newer one, a 4.4 v8, less than £10k. This hybrid sounds great, how do i identify one, ive been looking round the forum as a guest for a while, but being totally new to this model im pretty lost, Thanks, Sam

The hybrid will have a totally flat front bumper, below the headlights across. Just like mine in my avatar. It will have wipers on the lights if xenon a. It will have a touch screen sat nav.

Mine is an early car, with the flat bumper and non touchscreen sat nav.

Facelift cars hav the grille deeper into the front bumper compared to the headlights, ie the headlights are not as tall as the grille. They have touch screen sat nav.

Hybrids are a cross over, and have a mix.

If that makes any sense.

I am sure other will post pics, but I'm not on my pc...... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Thanks for the reply, so it has the 02-05 front end, but the later touchscreen fitted? Sounds great to me, I prefer a before 05 car so its in the cheaper tax bracket and bmw engined, and i could always do a 2005> front end conversion, Thanks, Sam

Exactly. Obviously if it's not a model that has the sat nav, it won't have the touchscreen. The speaker grilles are also different, and have like a circle in the middle of the grille.

Not sure of any other obvious visual differences.

If you are looking at vogue spec, it should have the touchscreen as standard. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Thanks for the info, yeah I'm definitely after a vogue, if I ever buy a car I always want decent spec levels, otherwise I always regret it, Sam
