smokin!

Has anyone experienced smoke from new brakes. I fitted new front discs and pads to my tdv8 (brembo) and the last couple of high speed runs have ended with smoke coming from them. I cleaned them thoroughly before fitting but hope it will burn off soon. You feel a bit of a dick at the traffic lights when other drivers are trying to point out that my cars on fire........ Shocked

When you put your hand on the wheel, does it feel super hot? If they are, the brakes are binding, maybe only slightly.

There should be no combustible material on any of the brake surfaces to start to smoke, did you put copper grease on the back of the pads? This I'm not sure if this would burn if the brakes were really hot.

I had a Pug 405 in my teens and used to drive the hell out of that. Once I got the front discs to glow literally orange. They didn't smoke though!

I changed the front pads & discs on my old Volvo 850 T5 years back a couple of months before I sold it, went to bed them in on the motorway at night, (100-0 as fast as possible lol) It bedded them in nice with a fair bit of smoke from them. In hindsight, probably not the best way of bedding them in, but I sold it on a few months after and they were spot on. 2006 Mercedes CLS

Probably not considering any manual you read will tell you to bed them in gently and avoid sudden/sharp braking for the first 500 miles. Laughing
