Fitting New Facelift air con controls to 2003 Vogue

I've bought a facelift 2007 air conditioning control unit to upgrade my air conditioning controls to the newer aluminium finish ones, which are much more attractive than the cheap black plastic ones which came as standard on my 2003 Vogue.

The unit in appearance looks identical to the 2003 model with exception the air con 'snowflake' button and the prog window defrost button have been swapped about; My query is can I switch the units over will it be plug in and play? or will I have to strip the unit down and swap the knobs over? I appreciate there's been a few posts on this in the past however I'm still not too sure what the best way to go about this would be Whistle

It would be ideal if I could just switch over the foundry fascia from my existing unit to and new one and plug it in (if possible)

Hey Andy, is the unit a different color than what is currently attached to our RR's? The PowerfulUK fella has videos on removing this unit and so forth on YouTube, that might be of some use to ya. And as far as I know, I think the knobs being switched around would be easier wouldn't it? Zambezi Silver Range Rover (2010 Autobiography Facelift)

Yeah I've seen the video's on Powerful's website Thumbs Up I'm relatively comfortable removing the unit but to remove the knobs you have to strip the full thing down so wondering if I could just change the foundry fascia to my existing one and plug in and play the new unit.... would save sometime and fiddly job if it would be possible Now: BMW 640d M Sport, Alpine White

Same here. I swapped mine with a used unit with the newer knobs and everything works perfectly - definitely plug & play. Huge improvement in looks as well. 2004 RR Westminster 4.4 V8

Gotcha Andy, well I think I might dab in this as well if I can find a well priced unit. Zambezi Silver Range Rover (2010 Autobiography Facelift)

I spent the morning trying to fit this. No issues generally except the unit I bought wasn't working so back to the drawing board Whistle

After much deliberation I decided to strip down my existing unit and use the front bit with all the buttons on my old 'electrics' which seems to work fine except Thumbs Up Now: BMW 640d M Sport, Alpine White

Isn't the suspension raise/lower switch different on later models?

Yes, completely different. The height control switch is a rocker behind the terrain response knob

The knobs in the bottom panel of your auction piece are seat ventilation. I'm sure you could adapt one of the aluminum knobs to the older height control switch, but that would be a rather expensive knob...

If you are going to be adapting, how about this?

Surely someone must know something about these units? I can't understand why the blower is no longer working Mad today I switched the boards over and fascia back to the original it's still not working even though it turns up and down with the max air con, auto and windscreen clear button Rolling Eyes

Could it be an issue with the unit? I can't see why... The physical mechanism is working as it should and it worked fine before I changes the fascia over. As I said above I tried fitting my old fascia back on and it's still not operational!

I've done a few videos.

This shows the mechanism is clearly working from the rear of the fascia, the white bit turning confirms that the mechanism is working as it should so it isn't an issue with the control knob as far as I can see.

&feature=youtu.be

As you can see it just isn't operating the fan, even though it works with various other buttons Big Cry

And even tried it with the old fascia and board, still nothing. I can't understand it doesn't seem to be a fan fault as it's working with other buttons

Exactly what happened to mine when I removed it the auto button when used manually just illuminates 3 lights and is stuck on auto.Did you get this sorted. I'm thinking looking at your videos maybe a battery reset is in order? Present :2008 TDV8 HSE

Battery reset, check the diagnostics etc

When my battery last played up it knocked out the drivers door power completely, windows lock etc etc battery reset solved it in the end, the diagnostics couldn't do it but a battery reset did

I've not done a battery reset as such however I have had the battery disconnected to do a couple of other bits and it hasn't had any effect (I assume the re-set is just off and on?)..... I'll need to go down and see my mate who has the diagnostics kit

It's good to hear you had a similar issue and got it sorted Googsy Now: BMW 640d M Sport, Alpine White
