Solar Trickle Charge

Guys

I've had enough of my RR killing the battery within 2 weeks of locking it up

I wanna get one of honest solar panel things that plug into the 12v/ cig lighter

The AA do one that plugs into a eobd port but I know ours have the later port (I think)

Anyone got any experience of these things or recommend one for me?

Thanks
Neil

I hope they've improved. The early ones didn't produce much of a charge. Is it worth investigating a kill switch to isolate the battery during long down times?

I have two in mine, from Maplins, they both sit either side in the rear window via the suckers provided, i then bought a two into one connecter with a cigeratte light plug into the cubby box, this gives a good trickle charge when not used for a while.

The cables are hidden behind the rear seats, then through and under the rear mats and out beside the passenger seat cubby box side into the cubby box power outled which remains live on the eary L322 after the car has gone into sleap mode...............i just leave the cubby box lid up when i lock it so i know to remove the plug before string the car up

Maplins...

It just plugged into the 12v socket in the boot... Remember that socket is always live.

I do like that one from map links but I've got heavily tinted rear windows will it be effective enough with the tints?

The new ones just need light, not necessarily sunlight.... My fatty had drug dealer window tints and it still gave 18v.. Previously..

Do you have to unplug them before you start the car. Maybe not an issue but you'd have to open the boot and do that before you drove away..? Ash

I always unplugged mine before I started the fattie... But I only used it if the car was not in use, so it was not an issue. Previously..
