Knocking Update

At last there is apparently a new ARC valve block available so mine is going in for a second time to replace the valve block, ARC bar, link rods and air springs. Shocked

I hope this is the answer this time Big Cry

Will this incur a recall for all l405 cars with active suspension or is it just a certain percentage affected? Agueroooooooooo. 93-20

Or pussy out like most companies and only replace when people complain.

It is in the workshop now being done. I will post here the result when I get it back. However time will only tell if it is a permanent fix because, as others have posted, the noise comes back after a few hundred miles for any ARC bar changes which have been done previously. It remains to be seen if the new valve block is the answer to the problem.

Well it's back and the knocking has gone. Let's see if it lasts. I shall be racking up some miles on a holiday to the West Country in the next week or so. If it comes back from that silent I shall be a happy man. The combination of no knocking and no diesel makes for such a nice quiet drive compared to the loaner I have been knocking about in (pun intented) the last couple of days Laughing

The main change according to the technician that should make the difference is a reengineered valve block and software. There are also two dampers on the ARC system now to stop shocks going through the body when you hit bumps.

5.0, when you mention the information from the technician regarding the two dampers on the ARC, are these a completely new addition?

I had the ARC replaced two months ago and it's as bad as before. Knocking and I can feel every ripple on the road surface through the steering and the floor.

Really hope this is a solution rather than a patch for you and the rest of us.

If you are satisfied with this fix, I will go back to my dealer.

Enjoy the West Country and the drive. Thumbs Up

Doodle, yes, valve block dampers and software all new.

So far so good, but only a hundred or so miles done since. The last ARC bar change lasted about 200. Rolling Eyes
