Wear on 22" Continentals

I'm probably taking the plunge on a stock SC L405 AB next week. Car has the 22" Contis. I used to have those on my L322 but changed brand because of the well known premature wear on the outer edges.
What about the 22's on the L405? Do they have the same problem?
Thinking about putting winter tyres of the same size, I see JLR recommends the Conti winter tyre in 22". Anyone tried those yet? Are they any good?

Thanks for your input Craig. Strange that the uneven tyre wear issue is only with the 20 inch Conti's.
Glad they're OK in 22 as I think that is the only tyre JLR recommends in that size for the L405.
Are you running Conti 22's as winter tyres as well or are you running the same ones in winter as they are rated M+S all-weather?

Call me a tart sir but i don't run the car in the winter as A, its our "shop window" so needs to be gleaming as much as possible! (only takes 200yrds around here in the winter and they look filthy) & B, we have older less valuable or "more suitable" cars here to use in wintery conditions... i.e. my bobtail D2 on cooper LTZ's Thumbs Up

The fact that 22" conti's work & and as reported here often 20" don't is not too surprising to me as just like the Conti's, TOYO Proxes don't work/wear well as a 20" but do as a 22"! Pirelli Scorpions work/wear well as a 20" but are imho the worst wearing 22" premium tyre available for the 322...
Im not sure if the above is related to difference in compounds between sizes? But I'm sure a more informed someone will be along at some point to tell you sir Thumbs Up

I have them and am on 28,000 miles now. Will need changing before the winter but still have a good 3mm tread.

I think Stan also said the tread pattern had changed on the continentals?

I can only speak for myself but i find in general continentals wear too fast, they never seem to last no matter what car I try them on. 09 TDV8 Westminster, Mariana Black, Rear seat entertainment, hatch bag and 2 slobbery mutts

My query is specifically aimed at 22's. Did you run your RR on 22's to be able to comment on this particular tire size? Craig said they wear differently depending on the size. If you did I'd be grateful of your personal experience.

Thanks for your input John, but my remark was aimed at MachineHead as my question was specifically for 22's. I have personal experience of 20 Conti's already.

Sorry no I ran my Disco on 18's never run 22's I'm afraid. My FF is on20's but they are Pirelli's due to Conti's in general wearing quite quickly in my experience 09 TDV8 Westminster, Mariana Black, Rear seat entertainment, hatch bag and 2 slobbery mutts

No problem. Yes I currently run Pirelli's too because of uneven tyre wear with my Conti's 20". Will hopefully be able to give you some feedback myself once I have driven enough miles with my L405 (Should close the deal next week, fingers crossed).
