If I drop 20mm with IID Tool do I need to do tracking

Hi all, as above had a 4 wheel alignment done a few months ago but now got IID Tool, could do with dropping 20mm all round (easier access for arthritic wife) but don't fancy forking out for alignment again Crying or Very sad

Tracking should be advised when any suspension heights are altered, in either direction

How does dropping the suspension affect the bushes? The centre of the bush is fixed so dropping it out of standard height is going to torque up the bushes.... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ

1. Don't do it
2. If you do, have the tracking/alignment checked
3. Don't do it

FFRR designed to run at the heights it is set at at the speeds it allows for a reason.

Motorway mode drops by 10mm, so you can be 30mm down if you drop normal by 20mm.

Ride comfort will suffer, less suspension travel (you might bottom out more easily), heavier steering.

There are lowering kits available if you want a street rod. .

I believe, from reading a subject a few weeks ago, that 2007-onwards models don't have a 'motorway mode'.

In contrast to what Joe90 says

I have lowered my car by the 20mm that your contemplating

the car handles better , you can corner quicker and it feels much more stable , there is no heavier feel at all to the steering , there has been no change in wear to my tyres.

try it you may be pleasantly surprised

Cool

First question should surely be why have a 4x4 if you want something low to the ground?

If you are intending to lower standard height by 20mm, it would seem obvious to check alignment afterwards - at the least you are adding more static negative camber.

If it is just getting in and out, why not use access height for that. I'm pretty sure you can lower access height a bit even if you wanted to without affecting the ride height at all. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Post about 2005 the BCM wont accept different hight changes for different suspension settings so 20mm lower for standard height will mean 20mm lower for everything . 2008 MY Supercharged

Did you even read my original post ? Sad

Not on a 2007 Big Cry
@ Mikey appreciate the feedback but according to dingg1 he has done it with no problems so still no wiser Whistle
@ joe90 my book of words (page 190) says high "speed height" raises suspension 20mm if driven at over 100mph for over 5 seconds

So appreciate all the replies but now have a load of conflicting information, so best bet is to buy wife a portable step and leave R/Rover alone Laughing

Weigh up the cost of an alignment, versus the cost of 4 tyres Thumbs Up

No brainer IMHO

if you do drop it then just keep an eye on the tyre wear, if it starts going on the edges then put the height back to normal.. ... - .- -.

At that point though, it's too late.

Once the tyre starts wearing uneven, even when back to standard height they will.continue to wear unevenly
