Would be replacing the oil feed pipe as matter of course. An extra £90 or so, but will save you 2 turbos in the long run Thumbs Up

Not at all implying that you should chuck money at it if not needed, but as oil starvation is one of the main causes of turbo failure (caused partially by improper servicing) aside from egr issues, i would definitely get them to check that the turbo oil feed pipes are clear and not blocked, could probably be cleaned out if needed too so only a small cost involved, and as the turbos are off the car and the engine then should be easy and pretty much par for the course when they are putting it back together. Thumbs Up

The Turbos/EGR, etc... are not out of the engine. Look at the first pics. The only thing that is out are the necessary parts to reach the valve covers, intake manifold/plenum chambers, and the sump of the engine. Everything else will be staying on. I'm planning the next visit tomorrow or thursday and I will see what can be done at minimal cost regarding the turbos.
Thumbs Up

Cobber it might be hard finding the bucks now but it will be a lot harder finding the thousands if something stuffs up that could have been prevented while the motors out, its a lot eraser to get at everything now than when its back in the car...........a stich in time saves nine ...........and checking and cleaning wont cost that much

I think it's too a budget because VMPP might be selling the car soon rather than a shortage of funds.

So, the parts have been replaced.
The tensioner was ok. Seems that one of the guide's plastic covers has unglued itself, hence flapping around and the ffff fffff ffff noise.

The Valve cover has already been mounted.

The engine will be ready to go into place during this week.

I will also replace the belts tensioner as it is making a bit of noise.
Other thing which will be replaced is the thermostat housing, as they are prone to crack.

The car also needs new bushings in the trailing arms of the front suspension. Turns out LR no longer sells the bushings separately. Now we need to buy the whole arm!!!! 15€ vs 250 € Censored Censored
I found some bushings on the island4x4 website, so problem sorted...

wow, seems incredible to think they are bonded, and not clipped, or pinned. the heat and temp change, in all that oil is asking for long term failure. good diagnosis/spot at early stage, and no catatrophes. (yet) good pics too.

Just getting the finishing touches done.
