Not covered, this would result in loss of drive, even with a good diff

out of interest, would you consider the drive shaft replacement as a difficult (technical) job?

Found a replacement on flea bay, seller is local and said he will fit it as well. His feedback is very positive, although he is more like a breaker than LR specialist.

Phil i would get the motor checked first to see if its only the half shafts (these are the ones that come out of the diff to the drive flanges on the wheels)
It looks like you may also need a new CV joint and or drive flange but dont take my word, get it checked first before parting with any dosh on the bay Thumbs Up

Phil

Easy job, Undo Hub nut, drop bottom arm, take shaft out, put new 1 in, refit bottom arm / hub nut. well that was all I had to do on my rally Nova.

But it may have damaged the diff. Depends how cheap the 1 on fleagay is.

its acutally the whole left wheel unit, so I assuming if anything else in that area has gone, a total replacement may be the answer

Other influence is that there's a good chance he can do it today, due to work etc (without a car) it will be mid week at the latest before I can get it to him, thats hoping he can see to it straight away which is unlikely Neutral .

Try Famous Four for parts, may be a better price..

Not sure about the 4.4 vs Td6 difference

cheers Paul - famous four is slightly better at 260+VAT

Speaking with the specialist, we discussed new vrs 2nd hand and, given the price different + the fact that its not a particularly common issue, 2nd hand is probably the best way forward

Just need to find one.....and fast Rolling Eyes
