France road map necessary?

Hi Chaps,
I'm planning to drive to France next week, I got TOMTOM with EU map and I think the 2012 RR's build in SATNAV got France map as well?(I never used RR's built SatNav), but I don't have a France road map, do you guys think I need a road map? and which map do you recommend? an ebay/amazon link will be very helpful.

Many thanks in advance
Regards
Henry.

Always worth having an AA Map or similar in the car when travelling in a country you are not familiar with.

Also as Stan says use your RR Satnav....

All EU Maps for Sat Navs have Western Europe countries at least.

emmm, I always have the feeling that any manufacutre's built in SatNav is not very good(I may wrong), I used to TOMTOM as I found its live traffic infor is very accurate( most of the case), and what I use is ipad mini with TOMTOM app, so it has larger/clear SatNav view.

I will buy a road map just in case I need quick find somewhere to head to.

i've used the FF's nav in france and it was ok...as with all sat navs you dont ''totally'' rely on them... a nav, reading road signs and common sense will get you anywhere.. ... - .- -.

Shocked wife with map....? That'll end our holiday before we got out of our village. No my wife and I agree that it is an impossible combination. Use the FFRR sat nav, you'll find yourself a few times driving in the nowhere, but somehow it picks up the road again. Next to that we use often a recent Michelin road guide available at nearly every service station. Enjoy the trip and take care not to speed to much. It's costly here and they are out everywhere as soon as the weather is fine.

I use the in built Nav in my 08my at least 3 times a year. Never really got me lost!

But I have a large road atlas in the glove box too just in case, any of them will do as it will mostly be for checking that the sat Nav hasn't programmed a daft route!

If you have a smart phone you also have google maps/Apple maps which are up to date but will need data.

Where are you heading? There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Just back from France. Used the in built nav, which needs updating, but always carry a road atlas too. Sometimes Mrs S guides with the map,but I've usually worked it out for myself by the time the instruction comes. Still it helps to pass the time.

Used the nab in Denmark and Germany too, both times ok.

I have used my 2010 maps (assuming they were not updated since the car left Solihull) without issues for a 4000 km trip UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany in April last year, no complaints. The only time it went "wrong" was trying to get to the Hilton La Defence (it kept me "underneath" the Hilton and didn't get me onto the "driveway" but apparently TomTom didn't "know" that either as one of my friends ended up following a taxi Smile ). MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
