No throttle response

Hi everyone
Had a strange thing happening last night on my journey from Northumberland down to Staffordshire, motorway driving using cruise control fine. Had to slow down for 50 mph camera zones when allowed to travel back up to speed limit 70 mph put foot down car accelerated to about 60 mph @ 4000 revs then stayed there not going any faster and no response from the pedal. Eased off then slowly accelerated this time feeling resistance on pedal and accelerated normally. It did this another couple of times at different speeds and each time it happened there felt no resistance on accelerator. This is on a 06 l322.

Any help would be most welcome

Daz.

The throttle pedal is just a switch, it has no cable, if it felt funny then maybe it's a fault in the pedal itself Pete

Hi. The feel was as if I had resistance and it would accelerate. When it failed I lifted off pedal floored it again and no response from the engine just Erving at high revs and no gear change. Foot off completely let it slow the revs back then start again this time acceleration it's as if the engine was restricted.

It's not completely clear to me what you mean when you write no response from engine, but at the same time it revs high and no gear change.

If I understand that combination correctly, it sounds more like problems in the gear box or torque converter. ----------

Hi

What I mean by no response from the engine is that whilst it accelerates to say 50 mph when It should change up to the next gear and go faster it just stayed at that speed with no response from the accelerator just sits revving at that speed like it is being restricted.

This happened 3 or 4 times on my journey.
Happened at 40 mph also 60 mph and 70 mph. When back using cruise control to accelerate never missed a beat

Which also suggests a fault with the accelerator pedal switch.

The no resistance issue on the pedal would indicate to me that something in the pedal is sticking. Essentially the potentiometer in the pedal is giving the signal to the ECU and if the potmeter is not moving, then the ECU is not changing whatever it is doing. So my guess would be something in the pedal is sticking.

Have a look at the PDF workshop manual on how to remove and pull apart (if you are mechanically inclined). See whatever is sticking in the mechanism and see if you can make it all move well again.

I hope this helps Smile MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Dead easy to replace, broke my old one when my foot slipped, can't remember how much but wasn't too bad
