I understand if you decat it, it smells like an old ice cream van if you are near the exhaust.

A few on here have done it, and will be able to provide further info.....

Are we going for the 4 potato shooters under the bumper ? Should sound better than stock.

Thumbs Up

Problem with a diesel is that it will still sound like a tractor , even if in this case a Chelsea tractor ...... Jaybear

De cats make them stink, sitting in traffic with the windows down is vile.

Steve You remind me of a young me, not much younger mind, perhaps even a little older!

Actually my mate put a performance exhaust on his TDi Seat. It had no cat or silencer boxes in it. It's wasn't noisy at all! All you heard was a bit more turbo whistle.

What i would say though, it Diesels chuck out more soot, in fact i was following an X5 earlier, nice black sooty marks above each tail pipe on the rear bumper.

IMO on a TD6 it is just not worth the effort or the expense.

You can always get the Carlos Fandango bolt on tail pipes (not actually connected to the exhaust!) .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

It will still pass the emissions test without one. However the tester is also supposed to visually check to see if a Cat is present, if the car had one when new. So it depends if he or she notices.

You can also get decats that look the same as a real Catalytic converter, the tester can't check the inside.
