Lift Kit for 2004 TD6 vogue

Hi all

I'm looking for a lift kit of around 2" as I would like to fit 305 55 20 aggressive tyres. its for aesthetics rather than use as I won't be going off road with it.

anyone know of any suggestions?

I have attached some links/pics of what I would be looking at doing

I simply use a IID Tool to raise the suspension more if need be.

It lets you choose how wild you want to go, but also help you monitor you Rangie, treat faults and so on.

This is a must really. l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

so would this allow me to have safely have a higher suspension setting at normal ride height?

is this a safe option?

also would I need to do anything with the bump stops as the aggressive tyres would kill the front wings if the air suspension ever failed.

The good thing with the Tool is you can raise the suspension only when needed OR all the time (get an alignment then).

I am not familiar with such bigger wheels on L322s, our side of the Pond it is not allowed tbh.

There would be mechanical matter to consider indeed (propshaft and transmission wear, wheel arches to cut - potentially limiting the protection from some air suspension components and air intake, speedo to recalibrate, etc), but this you should discuss with owners who have done the full time mods using the rods in the US.

Bear in mind this significantly modify your Range Rover and the way it will handle, perform etc. It might NOT make it more agile off road and will be less versatile of course as it will be more dedicated to off road use (not judging, just making sure you are aware of these implications).

Keep us posted as we rarely get owners raising L322s to this extent full time

Cheers l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

I'm running 32" tyres and have mine about 50mm above standard, been like it for about a year, I used an IID tool to raise it, Johnsons rods are IMHO a waste of money, you still need to get the system set up correctly as the height sensors have such a small length of movement they will not be right "out the bag" and if you have to pay some one to set it up, they may as well set it up 2" higher anyway....

The problem with the 305 55 20 is that its over 33" tall, my 32's are about as far as you can go without a lot of trimming, the wheels will hit both front and back of the wheel arches on full lock, they will hit the air bag central plastic slider and the fuel filler pipe on the rear, they may also hit the strut on the front...

They are also over a foot wide and will stick out past the wheel arches, this is an offence in this country and an instant MOT fail. As you say, they will wreck the arches front and back if the EAS fails....

The bump stops are integrated within the shock absorbers so you can't lower them, you could have some external ones made and fitted but it would not be cheap as there are other considerations to it...

I looked at fitting 33's when I fitted the 32's and really it's a nightmare for the extra inch.... Pete

Yes, buy some Brokeback American pick-up where you can buy all the bits cheaply off the shelf. It will still be pointless, but you'll have saved a load of money and hassle.

What are the tyre sizes your running and where can I get the tool to raise the car?

Well raising the car is obviously going to affect it's centre of gravity, i expect there is a reason LR have a 30mph speed limit for 'off road height'.

I'm not saying it's impossible or shouldn't be done, loads of people with metal suspension raise their cars for off roading without crashing. But you did ask if it was safe, clearly it will affect your cars high speed stability (ie side winds) and your ability to swerve around obstacles. You'd have to limit your on road speed to compensate i would think. If you're running the bags at the higher pressure then the consequences could be worse if one failed at speed.

Mine is an off roader and I am prepared for a compromise, would not advise raising the ride height for normal driving, my standard height is raised but I have kept the motorway height at the standard level, this gives problems with tyre wear as the suspension was adjusted at standard height and as I've done a lot of motorway work recently the rear tyres have worn very unevenly, I'm currently experimenting with different Camber settings on the rear...

I need to run a higher setting for normal use as the tyres rub with the "normal" standard height, it is not nice driving at motorway speeds at a higher than normal height... the FF feels floaty and not nice...

The gearing is effected and reduces the acceleration, not much of a problem with the petrol but as the diesel is a fair bit slower to start with it will feel very underpowered, it will also effect MPG to a negative effect and also put undue strain on the already borderline GM gearbox...

Just can't see the point in doing it for a road car....

My tyres won't be much good for yours as I have dropped down to 18" rims to get a higher sidewall as this helps whilst off roading... mine are 275/65/18....

Sorry to sound so negative but those shots you put up of the US cars on those rims do not tell the whole story, they are just show ponies and the owners are dubbing down the problems they are having...

Oh and one thing I forgot earlier, you have to remove the spoiler under the bumper as well... Pete

If you just want an offroad type tyre look you could consider getting some 19" wheels (255/55R19) and fitting Goodyear Duratracs. They are LR homologated, but it would probably be as well to tell your insurers.
Subject to your finding a method of getting them to London I could even sell you an old set of part worn (5-6mm left) Goodyear MT/R 255/55R19s. They will use about 10% more fuel, be noisier and give you poorer road handling, especially in the wet, but the tread pattern is not that far removed from those in your pictures, though of course they are nowhere near as large. They were a LR homologated tyre in their day, but are no longer available, the Duratracs being the nearest to replacing them. Only Range Rovers since 1988

would i be able to fit the 255 55 19 mud tires on without modding the suspension and keeping it standard?

or would i still have to raise the height?

No, would be fine at standard height, no clearance issues... Pete
