Having made one expensive mistake (buying an L405 without testing it), why are you repeating the experiment (buying am ML65 without testing it)?

Einstein once defined insanity as repeating the same actions and expecting a different outcome...

Carlos is repeating the same inaction, therefore it must = sanity letters not necessarily in the right order

You're asking the wrong guys! we are all biased, or brainwashed, one or other.

Try the same question on a Porsche or Mercedes forum and compare answers. You will be even more confused. 2019 D5 HSE Lux SDV6 Indus

In my mind, the logical thing to do is to test drive a L405 5.0l, an RRS 5.0l, an ML65 and a Cayenne turbo. The best one (in your opinion - as it is only your opinion that matters here - gets your cash).

But when did logic mean anything in a car purchase!

Carlos, for what my opinion is worth, having driven only the 405:
I think you have reached the stage where the 405 ownership experience is annoying you and you should change. Incidentally I agree that while there are 405s that have been perfect, there are too many problems, especially for the money.
Reading your posts I suspect that the Cayenne Turbo (or Turbo S) would suit you best and the only question is whether having had them in the past you want a(nother) change even if not necessarily for the better. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Okay, my two cents:
Judging from the cars mentioned, you don't mind the expensive stuff. If you like the L405 styling, but want something a bit more hard core, isn't the obvious choice a RRS SV (or whatever they call that new, super-fast one). Styling wise, the RR and the RRS are pretty close.

If you need to get away from Land Rover, what about the Cayenne? It's not an off-road machine, but it carves up the road better than most SUVs.

So they changed things from 15 MY, would certainly be interested to know what, even if I had to pay for some upgrades?

My 13 MY 4.4 SDV8 is bouncy too, its the reason I was frustrated with my RR, if it wasn't bouncy it would feel so much better, what did they change? They say nothing but it cant be true?

It's pretty difficult to actually find out what changes are made between model years if it isn't mentioned in a press release or on a spec sheet - I've seen no mention of suspension changes so far, and no press reviews have noted it as far as I'm aware - but it's not unreasonable to believe that development does occur. Wheels and tyres will certainly make some difference.

EM has given you the best advice - get out there and test drive

There's no point considering anything until you've established yours is right - so find another similar age SDV8 & go drive it. Then try the 5.0L FFRR & RRS - and the AMG ML & the Cayenne Turbo.

Travel wherever you have to - just drive them all before deciding anything - or you will always have niggling doubts.

I still staggered that you haven't asked your dealer for a drive of another SDV8 Yawn

I have asked, they said its hard to arrange because it belongs to sales and they only have one at the dealership and its usually reserved for potential customers.

I'm not going to buy anything else, I want my SDV8 to be right but don't have confidence I the diagnosis or LR repair process, lets see what they say, I've asked customer service to explain the difference between the 15 MY with reported improvements that will interest me and my own vehicle?

So look on the used RR site and find one for sale not too far away and call them up and arrange a test drive - just don't turn up in the FFRR Thumbs Up

Honestly, if it were me, it would have been the first thing I did - it's the only way to know whether yours is a lemon, or you just don't get on with the SDV8 - then take it from there.

Have to stick with the current L405 Craig, like many on here my missus thought I was barmy too and has told me in no uncertain terms to keep the one I have.

If reports of improvements between the 15 MY and earlier models are accurate then perhaps there is some light at the end of the tunnel, subject to a response form LR and any updates being under warranty ofcourse.

I spoke to DMS again ref the remap and they can tailor a map to give a much better pick up and offer what sounds like a top customer service so with a tune and some upgraded suspension parts / software, oh and some 22" wheels, maybe my L405 might work out for me Embarassed
