Help! What is this sound? - 2003 TD6 L322

Hey there guys. So, last night after leaving the gym, I noticed my battery light was flickering on and off.
Now, it is sitting as a solid warning light in the dash. No worries, I thought I would check the connections and just make sure that everything is as it should be.

However, when I started the Range today, I noticed there is almost like a rubbing/scratching sound coming from the engine bay (I believe)... Neutral Crying or Very sad

Is anyone aware of what this could be? Should I be parking the truck up right now?

What to do?!

See here.

Thanks guys! Kiwi lad - Range Rover TD6 L322

As above.
Sounds like a bearing issue, either tensioner or component, combined with the battery light suggests it's on the alternator drive belt circuit so alternator itself. Check the belt, remove it and check the pulleys on the tensioner and alternator for smooth running. Any resistance, roughness or noise/rumble and you've found the problem.
I don't suggest you drive it unless you want to get stranded with a flat/knackered battery.
You can move it a few miles if you charge the battery up before hand but it's a risk.

At least alternators are cheap for the TD6 compared to the TDV8 Thumbs Up
