ZF6 gear oil.

Hi folks.
I'm going to carry out an oil and filter change on my gearbox in the next few weeks. My mate managed to buy 20 litres of oil for the 5 speed box but I've been told you can only buy it in 1 litre tubs for the 6 speed. I want if possible to get the 20L and just wanted to make sure it's not possible before I purchase the small ones. Any advice is appreciated in advance.
Gary

If you want the genuine ZF oil for the 6 Gbox then ive never seen it in any larger sizes than the 1ltr, most on here will tell you that its the only oil you can use. Some of the power flush guys do use a different oil that is available in larger sizes .

1 ltrs only I'm afraid but at least its only once

^+1, just did mine the other week, and could only get it in 1 L bottles Big Cry - it is different to the 5 speed fluid. Thumbs Up

PS take a good look at your new Pan before you start fitting it - I got a new pan from Dan @ Duckworths, but it turned out that although the box had the correct part number on it, the pan in there was for the newer 8 speed and it is subtly different - I only found out after I had removed my existing pan when the holes wouldn't line up Big Cry Big Cry

(different number of holes, on different centres, and one corner has a sharper angle than the 6 speed) Thumbs Up Thumbs Up 2006 (56 Reg) 4.4 V8 Vogue In Bonatti Grey (Gorgeous!!)

Thanks lost for words. That's a good price, I've been quoted double that. Is there such a thing as a cheap version as I want to put the best stuff in. Also any idea how much I need?

Not quite sure what you mean by this bit? The Meyle oil is the same as the genuine ZF Lifeguard 6 - is that what you mean't?

Steve @ AF sells 10 litres with the filter change kits. Wink

Just to clarify I was just wondering (due to the cheaper price) if the meyle was a cheap version of the genuine stuff? I have today ordered the oil, filter etc to service my gearbox. I ordered from advance as you suggested.
Thanks again.
Gary
