Thanks even though i though it was not the boot seal, i think it might be given during the driving rain it appears to have also come in around the bottom Sad, main dealer the best option for a replacement?

basically yes it's a main dealer part.

Either your local main dealer or Duckworths (who are also a main dealer). I ordered one from Island 4x4 last year, it was a genuine part but not really any cheaper than from a dealer (i only got it from them as i was ordering other bits too, i wouldn't recommend Island 4x4 tbh)

So given the cost of a new seal 80! I am going to try with a tube of the silicone as per http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic30015....=boot+seal

If that does not work then new seal time...

have a look at your existing seal closely. Mine was rotten around the top corners, if it's as bad as mine was (and mine wasn't leaking that badly), then i doubt it's worth bothering with sealant, and if you do use sealant, then if it doesn't you've got an awful mess to clean up to fit the new one.

You can probably just buy the same seal off the roll from someone like East Kent Trim Supplies, which will be cheaper than Land-Rover, but you'll need to measure your old one and you wont have a sealed joint at the bottom. I just went genuine, as it's 5 min, job done and no leaks. If it lasts as long as the old seal (11 years) then that'll be well past my ownership.

There is also a putty type sealer inside that never dries that seals the rubber to the bodywork... You won’t get that on a non genuine part sir Whistle Thumbs Up

Remove the old seal and any lumps of dried mastic and clean mounting flange around the tailgate opening with Meths.
Measure the centre of the new seal and measure to get the centre of the tailgate opening.
Start at the top centre using the marks and then work either way from centre.
I used a rubber mallet to gently tap the seal as I went to ensure it was fully on the flange.
Be very, very careful fitting the seal around the two top curved corners to ensure a good fit.
If you are not careful the fitting flanges on the seal can splay out causing a poor fit.
Then fit the seal down each side, round the bottom corners, which are not such a problem, and along the bottom.
That hopefully should be it for a good few years. Thumbs Up
