2011 seats in to a 2007 car

I have searched the posts on this subject and can't find a definitive answer.

I have a 2007 car with a damaged front seat, been quoted £800 for refurbishment of the two front seats, I have found a full replacement set from a 2011 car, correct colour etc.

Will this be a plug and play scenario or am I wasting my time.

From my research using that fabulous tool fleabay, everyone looks the same and it would appear they should. Looks like the old BMW system remained to the end of the l322 production run.

So guys and galls, what do we think???

Thanks in advance.

i can tell you that the early bmw seats will not bolt in. they are very different. cant you get some close up pictures of underneath where the plugs are. as you will have 'airbag yellow' plugs to be dealing with. these will sort of have to be indentical, otherwise you will have some work to do.

i happen to have a spare set of 2007 perforated heated/cooled seats, in black. this is how i know they wont bolt in, and plugs are different too.

Thanks for the quick reply

For clarity, my car is 2007MY and I am looking to fit 2011MY seats.

I will get out there later today and have a look. Looking at what I can see on images of the seats the number of airbags etc is the same

Thanks again

i realise what you are saying, 2007 etc, but i would think, you have the plugging in, as your only hurdle.
just making it clear, they are not all the same. 2002-2012, look at the headrests. they are recessed on 2007 onwards. stitching is different too. you often find seats, bare without side switch packs, and plastic cover pieces, so dont assume it will all just plug and play. if you find a dismantler, ask him for some pictures, showing all plugs. getting the old ones out, is easy, but make sure you dont turn on ignition, with plugs unplugged, as SRS will latch on. also, you are sort of playing with fire, with those yellow plugs. so best to have battery completely off.

but i did notice that rears are same 2002-2007.

Are yours Vogue seats or VSE?

The standard Vogue seats are electrically heated and the VSE have blown air heating/cooling so you will need to get like for like as retrofitting VSE to a Vogue would be far more involved!

The 2011 drivers seat has an entirely different electrical setup! Works off an ECU under the seat. You would need to swap the loom & other parts over to make a “like for like” VSE or Vogue setup work in your 2007 sir...

So, YES its possible BUT... You need the correct setup to go with your existing car...

I did the same to my 2007 VSE when i sold it to a forum member as he wanted 2012 AB seats fitted... Worked perfectly Thumbs Up

Thanks gents

The new seats are from a AB (apparently) but the guy selling them says they are heated only???

My car is a TDV8 vogue.

Noted on the safety angle!!

Tempted to have them and do the checks side by side, can always return if not compatible.

Don't mind doing a bit of messing around.

What would be the down side of AB seats in a vogue car? Just no heating I guess, all other functions would work?

Camtec,

Think I will give the newer seats a go first, if that fails I will come back to you.

What parts do I need to get the 2011 drivers seat to work?

Update

Seats fitted

Passenger all good

Rear all good

Drivers - missing something, could it be the ECU and loom you refer to Craig?

There is nothing to plug into the multi pin connector and a few spare plugs further under the seat.
