England 2003 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Adriatic Blue
missfire issues

well after ages of no problems car started playing up yesterday.
very hard to start with missfire that clears slightly when warm.
scanned the car and had smooth running regulator code come up.all injector values at tickover are 0mm3 (which after reading other posts on here is a good thing) but this has me stumped.
car has recently had new lp pump,fuel filter and service.any help/advice would be appreciated from you guys with more experience than me Thumbs Up

Could be air in the system. Check fuel lines to and from filter. There's a clear fuel line near the filter, you may see air in this pipe if it is present.
I take it you have the iid tool, the best one there is for these rr's.

have checked everything now even taking in tank pump out to check filter not partially blocked.everything nice and clean or new.when running i am getting a slight noise from injector area like its blowing past the copper washer on the end of the injector so i checked each one and unplugged each one in turn and when i got to no 4 the noise almost went so in process of getting number 4 out and going to see if blowing past it.

well all back together and did all 6 injectors with new o-rings,washers and now have loads of air coming through the system.after checking everything it seems the in-tank pump is somehow pumping air as well as fuel through.time for new pump !!!

I had the same problem number 6injector was faulty got it refurbished while I was putting back together I noticed that there is a rubber pipe on the right hand side which goes back to the regulator to the sir pipe which over a period of time collapsed in on its self replace the rubber hose put it all back together and it now runs like a dream 👍 Thumbs Up

Have had all the injectors tested and have 4 that failed and being refurbished now.bloody car lol

Many years ago, I used to occasionally drive a lorry at the Plant Hire company that I worked for, it ran really nice, provided that there was over half a tank of diesel in it...... drop below half and it was a real pig to start, needing to be bled at the side of the road.... After the 5th time of it playing up we were given the go ahead to investigate the problem... turned out to be a rust hole half way up the pickup tube Shocked

So I have to ask have you tried it with a full tank and is there any improvement? Did have another instance of a similar thing with a patrol.. that had a crack in the pipe where it came out of the tank, but I very much doubt that yours is like that as you'd have diesel every where...... but that's not to say that there isn't a hole in the feed between the bottom of the tank and the top.... Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

All back together and running crap and code reader saying smooth running regulator...I am now stumped as checked/replaced everything

The smooth running regulator is not normally the problem check there are two hose pipes you will find that one has collapsed and that will be your problem 👍

Is my L322 Dead?

Hi to the oracles of fullfatrr

I am in prayer pose begging for guidance.

I had a missfire that has started from a short 10 sec cold start missfire 4 days ago to a intermittant missfire whilst driving under load, or not, to a deep whine when under load (this developed over one drive towing a caravan over 300 miles) to missing on one cyclinder to two to loss of power then into a stall and then a non start (all on the M5 130 miles from home).
it now cranks but does not run, and does not sound healthy .
the complete cycle was less that 500 miles.

I have plugged in an OBD11 reader and there are no fault codes. There are no waorning lights on the dash and id did not overheat.
The engine oil is thick and smells a little sweet but there is no coolant in the header tank but there is coolant sloshing in the top right hose.

I had three Shoguns before this FFRR and the three local garages managed to stuff the repairs, or not diagnose faults, on that up so I do not feel I can trust them with a RR.

I read that head gaskets are not commomn on the TDV8 (unlike the Shogun)

I am about to buy a Bearmach reader but thought I should check in with you first and see where I should start.
Is there a self diagnostic on this year of car?

If I were you I'd talk to Woburn 4x4, they are in Great Brickhill (Milton Keynes but for a couple of miles). They were very helpful and reasonable when sorting out my ffrr TD6.

Failing that Fastline in Wellingborough are top notch with Bosch Diesel Injection faults...

From the start of your post I thought injectors.... but then you said about whining from under the bonnet and I'm wondering if the high pressure fuel pump isn't at fault... but afaik the IID tool should be able to give you fuel pressure readings?

Anyhow Woburn 4x4 are very friendly, and will more than likely be able to give you some hints over the phone Thumbs Up

Shocked Forgot to add diagnostic tools there are only 2 worth having Genuine Land Rover Test Book (don't ask how much, YOU WILL HAVE A CORONARY!!) or the Gap IID tool which is the be all and end all of home diagnostic tools for the Range Rover... I had the BT IID tool which was fantastic as it didn't rely on my pixelated dash display and used my phone instead!

You sometimes see them for sale on here, just remember that you'll need to purchase a new licence for your VIN, from memory they are £25 ish.... Or do a google for Gap IID ! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Got the first sign of a fault code.

P0501 speed sensor

And the pixel display say
‘transmission Fault traction reduced.’ 2006 L322 3.6 TDV8
Dogs in the back, Kids in the middle, Horses in a box at the rear.
I know which makes more mess.
