RR Thoughts

Hi all, popped over from the Disco 3 forum as a friend is interested in getting an early 04/05 Vogue

He's seen this on AutoTrader, seems ok, but isn't sure what he should be looking at. I sent him a link to this guide from the forum: http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic18648....e+problems but very interested in what your thoughts are

Here's the add
http://www2.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ad...amp;page=1

142k miles, is that a problem??

Thanks in advance
Iggy

I've noticed a few things.... that towbar isn't the LR removable one, looks more like a Writter, which requires the use of spanners Shocked

Also there is no word about gearbox rebuild.. at 145K it's on borrowed time if it hasn't been done Rolling Eyes

It's also a late 2004 car not a 2005 cos it's the wrong front end, while we are there, the nearside (passenger) wiper has a fault... which can potentially be a battery drain.. easily fixable but it all costs.....

Check the time it takes to get to high mode from normal.. if it's a minute plus there could be pump problems.. although if your lucky a replacement piston ring can sort it for £15 and 30 minutes work... but if it's not caught in time then it new pump Sad While it's in high mode, it could be an idea to turn off the engine and have a listen in each wheel arch... you never know when Hissing Sid is going to strike Shocked

Check the stereo / nav .. as it's the later touch screen they can be expensive to sort out... and lastly, check that folding mirrors fold... and stay there, cos they can get in a flap... and this will need a rebuild or replacement.. and they aren't cheap.. even SH will make you Big Cry Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Just noticed that the front PDC (parking) sensor don't look too clever either... same side as the headlamp wiper fault Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

The 2005MY has that front end, Paul. As I understand it, the facelift came with the 2006MY which was introduced in 2005.

It does have the touch screen. John

I'm not disagreeing with you Bud, but often when peeps say 2005 they are referring to a face lifted car, not the old style.. Any how that still doesn't get away from the fact that the left headlamp wiper is suffering from a Viagra overdose Laughing Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Cheers both Bow down

We'd not even noticed the wiper! Rolling with laughter

He's already called the chap and left a message, and will now add the 'gearbox rebuild' on to his question list Thumbs Up

I have an IID tool from my D3, so at least I will be able to read FC's should he end up going to see it Thumbs Up

I recon that's a bit pricey, if the issues and scratches are not fixed. I got 5500 for my td6 on trade in last January, with less miles, no issues and better bodywork. Was a 2003 car..... have a look at others before deciding though... don't just look at one. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I would spend a bit more and get the zf 6 speed, and e center locker in an 06. Ideally get an 07-09 with a rear e locker. Check out my book on the matter. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cliffs-Unofficial...01MFDOQ7H/ OffRoadRover.com An American Western Range Rover Off Road Blog

^^ That is a bit confusing... as far as I'm aware the ZF 6 speed gearbox was never an option on the TD6, and it was only available with the GM 5L40E... That option is only available on the TDV8, which is quite a big jump in price. Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Correct, the 06 was when the TDV8 arrived with the 6 speed ZF box. There were not TD6 cars which had the 6 speed, they were all 5 speeds.
