might be worth trying a mobile bumper repair company, being mobile obviously they will come to you, and may take upto a full day to fix. Had my bumper done recently, slight scratches- cost £200.
The guy I used – Gary from Essex but travelled to West London. 07540 073268. He will ask you to send him some pictures and get a quote to you. 2011 5.0SC Santorini Black

I would be straight to the Police station - no note and no warning to let him concoct some Censored story.

Be good to get a pic of him with the car to match up with the cctv, I'm not sure how good your police are but around my way they probably couldn't even be bothered to give you a crime reference over the phone, your insurance company would be more likely to help you especially as they would be paying the bill if you are fully Comp.

northernmonkeyjones what's a CEC ?

looking at the guy's picture and the fact he's done a hit and run I would be straight to the police let them confirm the damage to his car, I doubt he will admit it to the insurance company so you really could do with a third party confirming the damage to his car match's up with the damage to your car

ideally before he decides to have his car repaired

I have seen case's similar to this where insurance company's settle 50/50 you really have to push and have as much evidence as you can

The issue you are gonna have is that your evidence that the car was hit is, by your own admission in your first post, inconclusive. You have no proof per se that the damaged Range Rover owned by Mr Billy Big B*ll*cks is the actual vehicle that hit yours, nor do you have any definitive proof he was driving. Yes the wheels are distinctive, yes his motor is damaged in what would be the correct area, but you have no reg number on your images. You yourself said you saw 20 black ones in a one mile radius and they're more common that Mondeos -"And with that the defence rests M'lud"

Plus, you have tipped him off.

I'm sorry to say it but I think you have dropped a clanger here.
Hit and run is an offence. Whilst you have no definitive proof, you should have informed the Police and let them approach him "unawares".

I realise the above is not what you want to hear, and all the comments on this thread about "get him, give it to him etc" will stir your pot for you, but sadly, the reality is there is zero definitive proof in the eyes of an insurer. Had the Police paid him a door knock with a damaged motor on his drive he might have admitted it in a fluster and then you'd be onto a result. Your only hope is neighbouring CCTV catching a registration but the legwork will in reality have to be yours I am afraid.

I do wish you well though. All the above is said from s/hand experience through a friend, and, far more pertinently, 15 years as an insurance broker/company claims adjuster (some time ago). 2007 Vogue TDV8 with 255/55/20's fitted

Sure - first thing I did was report to Police when it happened. Then the moment I found the car I asked Police to attend and make their own enquires. Sadly they refused.

But - update is: he took the bait - my note left on his car said contact me - which he did an hour ago! I now have a form of admission over email.

Considering that at noon on Sunday I had a hit and run - Now I have a VIN, Reg, year of vehicle 2003 ( he's got a 3.0 with a supercharged badge - d**k ) Plus now I have his name, phone number, gmail address.

. Cheers, Greg
