Black backside.

Well I am reconciled to the fact that i can't get the farmers drop plate off so I tidied it all up under there, treating the exhaust to some matt black barbecue paint and the towing bits to some black satin hammerite - looks a treat Very Happy Geoff

Not a great photo as it actually looks a little better in the flesh, a bit like women! and it looks a lot better than the rusty look it had before Very Happy

I covered the 3 info badges (2 of which you can't see) with tape so it didn't all look too black - the towball cover was a mistake, it looks cheap will get another. Thumbs Up

As I said heat resistant barbecue paint on the silencer and Black Satin Hammerite on the tow bar. Geoff

Looks nice and tidy ! Did you brush or spray the hammerite ? Looks like you did the whole armature, probably an annual requirement given the amount of salt we get on the roads ! Stolen / Gone: 2006MY Supercharged LPG Autobiography - Zambezi Silver with Sand/Jet/Jet Oxford Leather.....

Well done, I may have a go at the exhausts too! Such a shame you can't get rid of the drop plate. And I'm sure you'll find someone on here who would love your towing cap lol. Laughing Bushy

This is one the things I love about this forum, someone tries something and I get motivated to do it. Cool

RRUK I've just been looking at your thread about clay cleaning the FF, yours looks amazing! So I'm popping into halfords to get some clay this week. Something I would've never done before. Bushy

Thanks guys,
I'm getting used to the drop plate being there all the time as I use it almost weekly for my tow ball mounted bike rack (BuzzRack best £100 or so I ever spent) - the Hammerite is brushed on after cleaning with jet wash, file and emery cloth (I needed the file mainly where I had been battering the drop plate with a sledgehammer in a vain attempt to shift it). The silencer was jet washed, scrubbed with Scotchbrite and then sprayed with a couple of coats of B&Q barbecue paint as the aluminiumising (is that a word) was showing through silver. I am pleased now and it can certainly hold it's own with newer models.

Although to towball cover has to go Rolling with laughter Geoff

I'm sure you can do something about the bottom of that drop plate with the help of an angle grinder fitted with a cutting disc. Very Happy
As least it would remove the plough function of the tow hitch.

Top job Fella.

BTW, if you want to get the drop plate hitch part off, and if it's all rusted in place...I got mine off with the aid of a bottle jack between the back of the drop plate and the main towbar armature. Thumbs Up

Supercharged back box - Original Colour

Chrome exhaust tips aside what colour should the original Supercharged Silencer and exhaust pipes be please. My silencer looks faded black with some silver showing too.. Not sure if it was originally silver/ grey or black and might tidy it too???

Get Halfords Black Silk in Can and spray two or three coats. The results are cheap but look great. The box does not get really hot.

Wire brush should suffice. Just spray it on....
