This 54-reg L322 I've just got seems to have a problem with dim lighting on the instrument cluster. In fact I asked about it on another unrelated forum.

Are there bulbs somewhere that might have gone?

My problem was that on a dull day I turned the lights on and then couldn't see what speed the speedo said, and the little lcd strip was dim. All this with the little brightness knob at full on. With the lights off, it's readable but all much dimmer than, for example, my Octavia.

I was trying to establish whether there is a light sensitive diode in the cluster that takes overall control of the brightness. Going out at 1.30am, putting the lights on and then shining a torch at the cluster made no difference to the brightness so, if there is one, maybe it's broke.

So, did you get the cluster out and was anything like bulbs or diodes repairable?

It's not critical as I've set the machine to "bing" at 29mph and can extrapolate from there, but any info about this would be useful.

well I presume the upper section has built in lighting as there was only butterfly bulbs in the lower section where the trip and fault displays are pal but im guessing its not a new issue so there will possibly be a fix for it ??
