Td6 injectors

Hi
Had a starting issue and ending up replacing the fuel pump and injectors on an 03 td6.
This cured the starting issue however the engine especially around 2k rpm under load makes what I can only describe as a pinking / tappet noise.
Do the injectors need programing?
The new high pressure fuel pump is quite noisy don't know if this is relevant.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Mark

The injectors do not need programming. The high-pressure pump at the front left of the engine should not make any discernable noise above the normal engine level 2007 TDV8 VSE

Who swapped the injectors? Are you sure all the old washers came out, all new washers or at least old washers went back in after ensuring the locating holes were clean and free of carbon? Are all the clamps the right way round? 2007 TDV8 VSE

Thanks for the update
A local mechanic swapped them out and he has always been good.
It’s the pump at the rear of the car that makes the noise could it be an overfueling issue?

Might be worth having him recheck his work sir... Get the timing checked as this too will make it pink/rattle

Even reputable mechanics can make mistakes sometimes....Have him check the work he's done. Agree with bembo; don't drive it this way.
Noise from a pump is mainly because it's not hang-up well in rubbers. Fuellines which touch the body can cause the noise as well.
Good luck! Thumbs Up

Are you sure it's not normal?

The td6 definitely sounds like a diesel whilst under load at low rpm but seems to get quieter once it gets moving.

Be interesting to see what your mechanic says anyway.

Had a quick look myself the other day.
One of the injectors seems to be faulty as it does not pulse on idle like the others.
Just need to find out if it is the injector or a faulty loom as this seems to be a common problem!
