A Fortnight in the airport carpark...

Will the battery be flat when I get back?

Anyone else left their FFRR for a fortnight and it started up fine?

Battery newish (6 Months). Normally starts first time - so maybe I'll be OK. Think I will buy one of those battery jump-starter thingies just in case. It's a handy thing to have anyway.

Thanks both.

Left my 5 year old diesel for 4 weeks... no problems. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

I can't see it being a problem, providing you have no power drain.
I rarely use mine & it starts first time without hesitation, even in the cold. Battery is 2 years old & petrol.

Not had any problem both times I've left my petrol one.
Worry about it if it happens when you get back.

My TD6 with a new battery would go four days at most when it had a 240mA parasitic drain. Now I have the drain down to 100mA and it's been fine up to 7 days (haven't tried it any longer) but I suspect 14 days would be pushing it. If you have the standard 50mA drain that these cars are supposed to have when asleep, and you have a decent battery, I think you will be fine. RR History

I've left my Td6 for 12 days recently albeit at home and it started straight away. If you are worried you can always fit a temporary battery in the boot for the duration and fit a battery isolator switch or indeed simply undo a battery terminal to the front battery. This arrangement will ensure that your car operates whilst parked from the temporary battery and will start from the fully charged front battery as normal when you need it. The other thing to ensure is that your key manually opens the drivers door correctly. If it doesn't and you return to a flat battery you have a further problem. Thumbs Up

Mine's normally on the drive for over 3 weeks at a time and starts OK, even in the depths of winter. Battery is an 020 and is 3 years old.
I'm at work now, so I've probably given it the kiss of death for when I get home next week Rolling Eyes Previous cars:

If you're leaving the car where there is daylight or fluorescent light, you could plug a solar charger into the boot accessory socket and it'll keep the battery topped up.

@mpirie. With my luck such a device will probably burst into flames, set fire to the car and then the whole multi-storey car park along with all then cars therein. Wait a minute....

Probably worth investing in one of the small lithium jump packs though I'd imagine the AA have a guy on standby as it must happen a lot

Solar charger if it's outside or you can get it at the edge of a multi storey

If you use valet parking just make sure they don't park it near the entrance Laughing
