Thoughts on this L322 TDV8 please

I thought this is the best section to post this as everyone can then put their two pence in.

So this is the car I'm hoping to pull the pin on and I just thought I'd try and get some feedback;
https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ad...amp;page=1 (Hopefully this won't prompt anyone to have a look at it Very Happy )

So when I took it for a test drive, the gearbox didn't feel as smooth as I thought it should. Could this have just been because it was cold or because it probably needs a gb fluid change? They've agreed to change the gearbox fluid anyway which is great.

The rear boot lid has a little rust so I'm going to ask them to look at that as well.

Front discs will need doing fairly soon, how much should I roughly budget for discs only, £300?

I thought the steering was also light/loose but I'm currently driving an E63 (bitrubo) so I guess the steering will feel loose in comparison?

Everything else felt good and they've just replaced one of the turbos as well which is good to know in a way. On the flip side, does this now mean the other turbo will soon let go?

Any info or feedback would be really appreciated.

Thanks.

Henry

Hi Henry , gearbox should be silky smooth , steering sould be nicely weighted and not over light. Turbos are sequential so the smaller one gets lots more use than the second stage one.

IMHO this one doesn't sound tip top condition and for thst money nicer ones might be available.

Just my thoughts.

This is the first time I have seen any mention of a turbo failing on a 4.4 tdV8 .
I guess their must be nearly 100 owners on here so I would want to know more background before parting with my cash.

You may find my 4.4 tdV8 Fault history Log worth a read.
Also their have been a couple of very nice looking examples on here recently significantly cheaper.

Far too expensive for a 78000 well used westie by what you have listed. I had mine valued last week a 62 plate with 48000 at £27500.

There seems to be a few around, so I’d drive a few others to compare....as said already, gearbox should be silky smooth all the time, even cold....and not heard of any turbo failures so far....as Baltic Blue says....

.....look at another....it’s not exactly a bargain price wise....

Yeah I've seen that one. It definitely is a bargain by comparison but the colour combo isn't floating my boat. I love the grey/ivory combination.

I've read through is previous posts and looks like he's had some issue but looks like they've been sorted in fairness.

If it's any help - I ran an L322 4.4 TDV8 to 70k miles - absolutely faultless - the best car I have ever owned -I am now 4 months into my L405 and my fingers are crossed for a similar experience... 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Looks like it could be.

And a name dealer too. A blessing or a curse Smile What do I put here then?

Ha, never dealt with Evans Halshaw before tbh.

Warranty won't be worth anything really unless it's from a main dealer.

Has anyone bought a car from The Vogue Centre before please?

They have a couple of nice examples and seem to have good reviews.

To be fair,I bought my sc from Evans Halshaw,I paid extra for a 2 year warranty that covers claims up to the value of the car, seemed good value (£700).

Hopefully won't need it though......
