2011 tow wiring set up

First post 3 days into Fatty ownership Very Happy

Hello all, done a bit of searching but can't find anything specific. I have a 4.4 2011 VSE new to myself and have an issue with the tow electrics I am trying to resolve.

I have functioning Brake/Fog/Indicators but nothing on the side/tail lights. Have probed about a bit and have proven there is no voltage coming through to the connector in the bottom left of the wheel well in the boot before the loom then goes off to the right somewhere.

My searching has revealed it appears the 'up to' 09 cars had a separate tow module but it seems a different set up in the later cars? Does anybody know what module controls the tow electrics? Anyway to 'reset' it?

Again, I have searched but there doesn't seem to be a separate fuse for just the tails on the tow wiring circuit but maybe I am wrong?

Anybody got any info on this setup? It is the original 'from the factory' LR kit.

Hoping to tow the camping trailer this weekend but at this rate it'll be daylight manoeuvres only Very Happy

Anybody got a wiring diagram or workshop manual?

Thanks guys, Forum seems awesome, happy to be here!

PS ( proven fault on a separate trailer board and also working trailer lights on a different car)

Just thought i'd close this off for any future 'searchers.'

I had a good look through the WM etc and there was quite a bit of referencing to the 'Trailer Module'. However, having searched high and low (and where the manual said) I couldn't find the thing anywhere. I stumbled upon another thread with identical issues where the chap said he gave in and took it to his indy who changed a fuse and hey presto problem solved.

It appears that the later cars don't have a separate module and that there are individual fuses in the glovebox fuse compartment for each trailer circuit. Trailer sides on a later car are F27 10A iirc. I swapped it out for a spare at a garage on the A1 while the missus grabbed a Costa. Very Happy

Should have read the owners manual...

If the other handful of issues get solved this easily I will be a very happy man. On the plus side we covered about 400 miles without fault and absolutely loved the waftyness of it all.

Good to hear! They have their foibles but most are well known and can be sorted...
There is a lot you can do in terms of preventative maintenance:

Replace 4 inlet hoses if they are the crappy originals
Change all oils if not done so including the "sealed for life main gearbox"! Pile of rubbish. Get it Megaflushed
Make sure coolant top hose is not weeping
Check Adaptive Dynamic wiring for chaffing
Bin locking wheel nuts
Oil cooler leaks in V of engine and underneath? Replace O rings and/or gaskets.
Rear arches
List goes on Rolling with laughter

Cheers Rob,

Most of that is on the to do list for sure Very Happy

I do everything to my own cars and I intend to do everything possible to this one too. She's far from perfect but was a good price and as far as I can tell was looked after by the main dealer that supplied it to it's one owner.

Full service kit ordered this morning.

Any recommendations for who to use for the megaflush? Nearer to Cambridge the better but willing to travel.
