Ireland 2006 Range Rover HSE Td6 Buckingham Blue

Changes the gearbox oil and filter, at 122,500 miles it's squeaky bum time with a TD6 box..... Shocked

Despite the fill plug feeling like it hadn't been touched in 11 years, which resulted in a larger nut having to be welded to the filler plug to remove it.... Rolling Eyes the fluid actually looked surprisingly good, not exactly red like new, but not black either, a sort of reddish brown which I was happy with, and the sump magnet having a light coat of a dark grey slurry or paste, nothing too large or shiny.

I bought a 20 liter drum of fluid so I think it's run it for a few thousand miles and give it a change again.

No great difference in the way the box performs, perhaps slightly smoother, could be the placebo effect bit then again I didn't really have any complaints to start with.

You don't mention it but did you change the filter as well? I would also only use a Filtran filter. John

Well spotted Weggie, yep, changed the filter too, couldn't get a Filtran, I know it the recommended one, I can't remember for the life of me the name of the filter I used, I got a filter kit including the sump gasket and new bolts from my local motorfactor, he's usually pretty good and I did warn him I didn't want to put rubbish into it so hopefully it's ok.

Installed a dual battery system.

It's a first pass and could have been better laid out. I do intend to make a Mk2 version.

Do you want to see it? I'll find a dual battery thread and add the story there. Ron B. VK2OTC

Had a mysterious random slow puncture looked at, Nothing found so re-sealed, new valve and balanced.
Although she had a service 2 weeks ago she had a quick levels check, screenwash and tyre pressures ready for a northerly visit tomorrow - looking forward to that. Well, apart from the 7 hrs it will invariably take... 2007 Vogue TDV8 with 255/55/20's fitted

Finally did some motorway travel in my 4.4TDV8. Not too far, London to Swindon and back, then again two days later to collect our daughter from camp. Only around 320 miles all in.

Such a comfortable car.

The best part? watching the Av MPG creep up on the M4. Went over 30. Then 31. It was entertaining in itself, I was thinking, no way it'll got over 33. In then end got 35mpg

Also did a DPF clear out. Dropped it down to 6th (can't believe I can say that) and held it just over 2000rpm on the cruise.
Orange (DPF) light went out in 15 mins.

Adaptive cruise works a treat too. Cheers, Greg
