guys, ive been away from this forum for too long. ...my beast has behaved self for years, but she has to go soon... I am thinking of changing out my very old 2002 model, for a 2010 tdv8 4.4, I have a question, that's not clearly answered when I search the forum.... if I buy a 2010 model, without a tow bar, can I retrofit, my outgoing 2002 towbar, and buy a new wiring kit (pf Jones 2010+) and fit the whole setup? I think im reading, that 2009-on towbars are definitely different, but only for the rear exhaust hangers. So if I can weld on, a pair of suitable 10mm home made exhaust hooks... (easy for me) can I retrofit the outgoing towbar as its a Westfalia one, and still working well, as I far prefer the look of the detachable one. I ask, as I've found a candidate for purchase, without any towbar, and this is the only missing option I need, as I sometimes tow car trailers here and there. thanks.

Yes indeed you can, the hangers on the old towbar don't get in the way, so leave them where they are.

Grind off the hangers from the strengtheners that you'll be removing.

The hangers will then simply bolt on with the 'old style' towbar.

Simple !

Electrics are plug and play, though possibly best to tell the car they are there via IID or other suitable diagnostic.

I believe you are correct in your synopsis. It’s just the exhaust hangers that are different.

There was a recent post about it if I remember right.

As above. Also if you still have the older car available then you would need to switch the Westfalia parts that are originally with the new car to have the tie down eye at the rear. John
