Pre-facelift retrofit?

Hi all,

I'm looking for a 4.2 currently. I might be completely crazy (it's quite possible) however I quite like the pre-facelift style with the square headlights and simpler lines. It would also make for a rather stealthy looking 4.2 SC

Has anyone retrofitted the 1st gen front end to the 05< models? If so is it just a case of swapping the grill, headlights and front bumper or do the wings need changing too?

Thanks in advance 2006 L322 Vogue SE 4.2

Can't see why not & you are not alone, I too prefer the earlier simpler look.

I did think of buying a later L322 & doing the same, but not being able to find one that I really liked went over to the dark side & bought a Sport.

Now that really IS the dark side!

Good to see I'm not alone, hopefully this means someone has done it before. 2006 L322 Vogue SE 4.2

As lovely as that is, it's not quite what I'm after and above my budget.

Should sell quickly though and I would have thought to a true enthusiast too given how unique it is. 2006 L322 Vogue SE 4.2

Wiring will need modifying to the early plugs, shouldn't be too bad a job...

Also the early cars had headlight wipers and the later ones didn't, may need some trial and error to get them working or get the bits from an HSE which I don't think had them...

There maybe differences in the front plastic parts that go behind the bumper, the wings are different but I think you should be OK, you may need to rivet in a plate for the indicator...

I also love the original clean lines...

Good luck and lots of pics if you do it please.... Thumbs Up Pete

Sounds like some of the ‘back-dating’ shenanigans becoming more common in Porsche 911 circles.

Kinda see the appeal.

I’d love early shark gills on mine, those early ones were the best. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster - Baltic Blue, Jet interior

Two points to make... Insurance and Legislation... Will your insurance company cover it? & are you allowed to retrofit glass headlamps to an 06>MY? I'm not sure you can?
